Rain couldn't dampen the excitement at today's Touch-A-Truck event at Moss-Wright Park!

A special thank you to Ofc. Zumbroegel and Lt. Shoesmith for spending the day connecting with families, answering questions, and representing our department with professionalism and enthusiasm.

Throughout the event, they handed out police badge stickers, welcomed visitors into their vehicles, and gave children and adults alike a chance to get an up-close look at the tools and equipment used by law enforcement every day.

While the weather brought a few showers, it certainly didn't wash away the smiles. Families came out in great numbers, children eagerly explored the vehicles, and community members took the opportunity to engage in meaningful conversations with our officers. The positive energy and support from everyone in attendance was truly inspiring.

Events like Touch-A-Truck are about more than just vehicles—they're about building trust, strengthening relationships, and creating connections that extend far beyond a single afternoon. Every conversation, every question answered, and every smile shared helps reinforce the partnership between law enforcement and the community we are proud to serve.

Thank you to everyone who came out and made today's event such a success. We are grateful for the opportunity to connect with our community and look forward to many more events like this in the future!

In Loving Memory of K-9 R***r 🐾💙

Today, we honor and remember K-9 R***r, a true hero whose dedication, loyalty, and service left an incredible mark on the City of Goodlettsville and everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.

R***r began his service with the Goodlettsville Police Department in 2015 alongside his handler and partner, Lt. Matt Shoesmith. During an extraordinary 9-year career, R***r completed more than 1,000 hours of specialized training and became one of the most accomplished K-9 officers in department history.

As a certified narcotics detection K-9, R***r played a vital role in removing dangerous drugs and weapons from our streets, helping bring countless offenders to justice.

Throughout his career, he seized more than $350,000 and earned an unprecedented five nationally recognized awards—an achievement unmatched by any other Goodlettsville Police K-9.

Beyond his law enforcement accomplishments, R***r was a beloved ambassador for the department. He visited schools, Boy Scout troops, and community events, helping educate children and residents about the important role police K-9s play in keeping our communities safe. Whether working a case, demonstrating his skills, chasing his favorite tennis ball, or enjoying a walk with his partner, R***r always gave his all.

Following his retirement, R***r embraced a well-deserved life filled with naps, belly rubs, back scratches, tennis balls, and treats, surrounded by the family he faithfully protected.

Lt. Shoesmith, his family and the entire Goodlettsville community mourn the loss of an extraordinary partner and friend. While our hearts are heavy, we are grateful for the years of service, courage, and unconditional loyalty R***r gave to our city.

Thank you, R***r, for your service, your sacrifice, and the legacy you leave behind. Your watch may be over, but your impact will never be forgotten.

Rest easy, K-9 R***r. We have the watch from here. Born 11/09/2013 end of watch 06/11/26. Love you buddy.

Today, Lt. Shoesmith and Officer Wright had the opportunity to visit ABA Centers of America and spend time with some amazing children on the autism spectrum.

The officers welcomed the kids to explore their police vehicles, sit inside, ask questions, and learn more about what law enforcement officers do every day. It was a wonderful experience filled with smiles, curiosity, and meaningful conversations.

One of the highlights of the visit was Officer Wright handing out police badge stickers while taking time to connect with each child individually. The officers did an outstanding job meeting the children at their level, engaging with them in ways that made them feel comfortable, valued, and included.

Building positive relationships within our community starts with moments like these. We are grateful to ABA Centers of America for inviting us and allowing us to share this special day with their students. Thank you for the warm welcome
