This afternoon Steve Berreth from the City Of Goodrich assisted with the hydrant flushing on the north side of Goodrich. We flushed each hydrant for 2 to 3 minutes with a flow of around 250 gpm.

Wednesday and Thursday afternoon we will be flushing the hydrants on the South side of the City.

After flushing the water lines you will notice difference of water quality and clarity. It may take a day for the water to become normal in appearance.

The boil order is still in effect.

Any water questions can be directed to the City Of Goodrich.

A boil order is in effect for the City of Goodrich.

If you need water, we have some cold and ready for you to take. You can take the water out of the far left fridge in the fire hall.

Please take what you will need for each day. As we have plenty of people in town that will also need water.

This water we received from the wildland water grant from Anheuser-Busch.

I huge shout-out to Drip Drop on this awesome and tasty donation to our fire department.

I can drink a bunch of these little packets of hydration and it will not hurt my stomach. Like other hydration drinks tend too.

On a typical Fire scene, we drink about a quart of water per person. The longer and more intense the fire or days it's hot out. We consume more than a gallon of water per person.

I know you all miss the data side of the fire department. I want to be transparent with you. You pay taxes, you see the trucks going places, you even see me tossing out candy at parades. So you made an investment into YOUR fire department that serves your community and also other communities. It is in the best interest as Fire Chief to say here is what we did with your treasures that you have given to us. I have zero problems with you asking questions, wanting a tour or making a statement. In fact, I rather have you talk to me then spreading rumors that are not true. This is the embarrassing part of small towns.

We have new software for reporting. This Chief is a nerd and loves software, not as much as driving a fire engine.
As I have finally achieved Super Amazing Chief status by getting all the reports reviewed and approved. Now I can run the department data.

I will have to check out the data to make sure all calls from this year and last year are getting into software after the data merge. So this is just a here is what I have for you.

please get out and make a report of the conditions in your area.

I know it's dry. You know it. But, we gotta take the time to let others know. Fill out the report and snap some pictures.

Is the Drought Monitor Map accurate for the conditions in your area?

The CMOR reports you provide are *critical* in shaping the Drought Monitor Map, which is tied to federal assistance for farmers and ranchers.

Welp! We got 10 drops of rain maybe a few more! The ground is already dusty.

So in a North Dakota thick German accent.

So, you probably should not burn anything until it snows. Ya say it's pretty dry out there.

We are in low index for today. However, don't burn anything. Don't use hot sauce even.

To quote my friends at the state offices. It's spicy!

I can't stress this enough. You have to be prepared during harvest season. You will need tillage equipment. You will need an exit plan. You will need your neighbors watching over you.

This afternoon we responded to a grassfire in the Lincoln valley area.

This was a mutual aid fire event and everyone showed up. Drake Volunteer Fire Department McClusky fire department, Anamoose Fire Dept Sheridan County sheriff's office and the friendly folks on the other side of the radio at State Radio or NDECC. They always treat me like I am their favorite caller. Which I know I am.

Never a good fire when you can see it from 20 plus miles away.

We all showed up and tackled the fire and worked on different sides of the fire.
Team Goodrich was on the main flank and also on the west line of old cars, tractor's and other items.

Around 75 acres was burned.

The property owner believes a hot bearing caused the fire.

As always you the public are more then welcome to use our thermal imaging camera to look for hot bearings and other potential hot/fire issues. This is a zero cost to you. This is part of our community risk reduction plan.

For our department we used over 6500 gallons of water and 5 gallons of foam and 50 gallons of fuel.

After rolling the hose and making sure I didn't leave something behind, we did tailboard selfie.

Now onto writing up the report.
