Town offices will be closed at 12:00 PM on Friday, September 4th, 2026. We will reopen on Tuesday, September 8th, 2026, at 8:00 AM.

Emergency services will remain available.

The Town Public Works crew will be conducting scheduled maintenance on water lines in the vicinity of Gentry, Cadmus, Partlow, and East Baker tomorrow, Friday September 3rd, 2026.

Some service interruptions may occur. After the maintenance has been completed, customers may have some brief aeration or harmless discoloration in their water. If this occurs, slowly run cold water in your sink and move from lower floors to higher floors. Once the water runs clear, turn off the cold water in the same order (lowest to highest). This should reduce or prevent knocking and sputtering.

If aeration or discoloration persists, contact the Town of Gordonsville Public Works Department at (540) 832-0877.

UPDATE 11:20 AM: IT and phone services have been restored.

The Town Hall is experiencing a network and phone outage. Our IT service provider has been notified and is working to correct the issue. At this time, we can only process cash transactions.

The Town of Gordonsville has been made aware of Rapidan Service Authority’s Chairman Mark Johnson’s intent to vacate his seat on the Authority’s board at the end of this year.

While the Town does not have a vote on who is appointed to fill the upcoming vacancy, we do strongly encourage interested Gordonsville residents to put their names forward for consideration. As one of RSA’s largest customers in Orange County, the Town of Gordonsville would greatly benefit from one of its residents serving on the Authority’s Board. This is your chance, as a customer of RSA who has experience with their sewer system and service, to make a positive impact on your Town and community.

Anyone interested can email the Town Manager of Gordonsville at [email protected] to seek a recommendation and endorsement by the Gordonsville Town Council for this critical vacancy.

Gordonsville Town Offices will be closed at 12:00 PM on Thursday, August 20, 2026 for staff development and resilience training.

Normal hours will resume on Friday, August 21, 2026 at 8:00 AM.

The Department of Public Safety and Public Works emergency response will remain available.

The Gordonsville Town Council meeting scheduled for Monday, August 17, 2026 has been POSTPONED till Tuesday, September 8, 2026. The meeting will be held in the second floor Council Chambers of the Gordonsville Town Hall located at 112 S. Main Street, Gordonsville, VA 22942. The updated agenda will be posted here when available.

TOWN OF GORDONSVILLE, VIRGINIA
PUBLIC NOTICE:

Starting Monday, August 3, 2026, the Town of Gordonsville Department of Public Works will be flushing fire hydrants within the Town of Gordonsville.

Fire hydrant flushing is routine maintenance that helps protect water quality and system reliability by removing sediment and mineral buildup from the water distribution system. It also helps maintain adequate water flow for firefighting and improves the quality of drinking water.

Hydrant flushing may temporarily discolor the water as sediment is stirred up in the water mains. Although the water may look cloudy or discolored, it remains safe to drink. If discoloration occurs, run your faucet for a few minutes until the water clears.
