🚨 A Major Milestone for West Side of Grayson County 🚨

Today marks a major milestone for the emergency services on the West side of Grayson County as we transition to a combined emergency operating channel.

The new channel, simply named “Alarm,” will provide interoperability between the west side fire departments, allowing us to operate together on a single emergency channel. This new digital channel provides improved clarity and enhanced communications capabilities, including encryption.

This accomplishment represents countless hours of planning, coordination, testing, and hard work by many individuals. We are extremely appreciative of everyone who contributed their time and expertise to make this transition possible.

To all of our automatic and mutual aid departments, we are proud to move forward together as we continue working toward more efficient, coordinated, and effective emergency responses through our new communications system.

A special thank-you goes out to all of the West Side Fire Chiefs, and especially Chief Jeff Patterson of the Whitesboro Fire Department, for his leadership, dedication, and persistence in helping see this project through to completion.

🔥 BRUSH-22 IS BACK IN SERVICE! 🔥

With grass fire season in full swing, we’ve been working diligently to update and improve our military 6x6 Brush-22, and we’re excited to officially put it back in service!

Thanks to a grant, we were able to purchase a brand-new skid unit valued at $50,000, with $45,000 of the cost covered by the grant. The new unit features:

🚒 700-gallon water tank
🚒 Kubota diesel engine
🚒 Darley pump
🚒 Integrated fuel system tied into the truck’s fuel tank, eliminating the need to carry fuel cans
🚒 Dual hose reels mounted on the rear
🚒 New seat and mirrors for improved comfort and visibility

This truck is our go-anywhere, get-to-the-fire truck, and these upgrades will make it even more capable of handling the tough terrain and conditions we encounter during grass fire season.

A huge THANK YOU to all of our volunteers who put in countless hours working on Brush-22 and getting it ready to serve our community once again. Your dedication, hard work, and willingness to give your time are what keep our department moving forward.

School is already underway in Texoma, so as a reminder, all traffic must stop for school buses with flashing red lights and extended stop signs. Watch for students walking to school or to bus stops. Please be extra attentive and patient to help keep students safe this year.

Sherwood Shores Fire was dispatched to Golden Oaks Rd in Sherwood Shores for a grass fire. Crews quickly responded and upgraded to a second alarm. Strong work and quick decisions minimized fire spread.

Sherwood Shores Fire was dispatched for automatic aid for a structure fire on Howard Rd. in Gordonville. Crews worked quickly and extensively to extinguish the fire.

Sherwood Shores Fire was dispatched for mutual aid to a residential structure fire in the 6000blk. US-377 in Willis-Powell. Many crews were on scene prior to Sherwood Fire, working hard to contain a structure that started a grass fire. Strong work to all departments involved, and Whitesboro Fire Alarm!

UPDATE: SHOOTING INVESTIGATION

The Grayson County Sheriff’s Office can confirm that persons of interest have been located in connection with this investigation.

Investigators remain on scene at a residence in the 500 block of Oxford Drive in Gordonville as the investigation continues.

At this time, there is no known threat to public safety related to this incident.

If you have any information regarding this shooting, we ask that you contact the Grayson County Sheriff’s Office Dispatch at 903-813-4408 and ask to speak with an investigator. Even seemingly minor details may assist in the investigation.

We continue to ask the public to avoid the active law enforcement scene and allow investigators the space they need to safely process evidence and complete their work.

This remains an active investigation, and additional information will be released as it becomes appropriate to do so.
