Gorham will take place in the National Night Out with an event at the Town Common on August 4th from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM. We hope to see everyone there to meet with local Police, Fire, and Emergency Medical Service Providers!

National Night Out is an annual community-building campaign that promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to make our neighborhoods safer, more caring places to live. National Night Out enhances the relationship between neighbors and law enforcement while bringing back a true sense of community. Furthermore, it provides a great opportunity to bring police and neighbors together under positive circumstances.

Stay tuned for further updates as we finalize plans for the event!

The weather forecast for the next couple days is calling for a widespread rain and wind event at lower elevations and snow, high winds, and brutally cold temperatures at higher elevations.

If your plans included any hiking in the White Mountains this weekend you should make changes now and wait for nicer weather. Hiking in this weather not only puts yourself in extreme danger but if an emergency arises it will require rescue attempts that will put rescuers in danger as well. With the forecast predicting 6-10 inches of heavy wet snow for the summit of Mt. Washington over the next couple days this is not the type of weather that is conducive to safe outdoor activities in higher elevations.

We are expecting rain in the lower terrain that could reach over two inches but do not expect any flooding issues as the rivers and streams remain low at this time.

Friday 2:30 update:

The Gorham Water & Sewer Department would like to share an update on the continued work stemming from the recent water main break at the Dublin/Main Street intersection. Crews removed the asphalt on Dublin Street, thoroughly inspected and compacted the subsurface, and brought in new gravel to stabilize and level the roadway. Dublin Street has now been reopened to traffic. Final paving will take place once contractor quotes are obtained and a schedule is set.

The Gorham Water & Sewer Department would like to provide an update regarding the recent water main break located at Dublin/Main Street. All repairs have been completed, and fire hydrants were flushed on Tuesday, May 26, 2026, and Wednesday, May 27, 2026, to ensure the system is fully cleared.

On Wednesday, May 27, 2026, we collected multiple water quality samples from various locations around Town to confirm the safety of the water. Because this testing requires a full 24 hours, we waited to share an update until the results were finalized. We are pleased to report that all samples came back negative, and we are confident that the water is safe to drink.

We completed paving on Thursday, May 28, 2026 at the dig sites located in the travel lane on Main Street. Due to the amount of water that traveled beneath the pavement, both the Public Works Director and Superintendent believe there may be a potential risk of undermining on Dublin Street. Until they are able to fully investigate and determine whether the road is structurally safe, we feel it is best to keep Dublin Street closed as a precaution. The crew will be investigating the road on Dublin Street today, Friday, May 29, 2026.

We will provide you with an update as soon as more information becomes available.

8:30 PM update!!!

The repair has been completed and they are turning the water on now. They are flushing some hydrants right now to try to clear the lines. If you experience any air in your lines please just give it time.

All of us at the Gorham Water & Sewer Department want to thank the residents of Gorham for their patience and understanding while we worked to repair this major leak.

Please share!

Below is the 3:00 PM update from the Water Department. Thank you to whole crew who has been working on this since 10:30 last night!

We have located the leak and repairs are currently underway. At this time, we are anticipating that water service may be restored by approximately 5:00 PM, though this cannot be guaranteed due to the severity of the break.

NHDES has been notified of the situation, and there are no additional requirements from them at this time. Once water service is restored, the system will be flushed to clear the lines, followed by the collection of bacteria samples to ensure water quality for our residents.

The Selectman's Meeting scheduled for tonight at 6:00PM has been postponed until next Monday, June 1st, at 6:00PM.
This is due to water main break and the lack of water at the Town Hall.

Update: We do have a limited supply of gallons of water for those in need.

For those affected by the water shutoff in Gorham we have water at the Fire Station still. You can bring your own container to fill at the station at 347 Main Street. We are working on a plan to source bottled water, but this is drinkable water if dispensed into a clean container.

At this time the Water Department is still working on repair of the leak with an unknown time of restoration at this point.

05/26/2026

Due to the broken water main there will be no school in Gorham today.
