I want to clear something up from my last video.
Of course policy matters. And yes, you should know where I stand.
I believe we need to spend responsibly, keep taxes from continuing to climb, protect local control, get unnecessary government barriers out of the way for businesses and housing, and make it possible for families to actually afford to stay here.
When legislation comes before me, these are the questions I’ll be asking:
Does this actually make life more affordable? Does it leave people with more control over their own lives, or give more control to government? What does it cost? And who ultimately pays for it?
Because I don’t believe there’s some endless group of “other people” we can keep taxing to pay for everything. Eventually, we all feel it.
And yes, I will take a stand against socialism, it’s personal for me.
My family came from communism. My parents, grandparents and great-grandparents knew what it was like when ordinary people had very little voice or choice in the decisions being made for their lives.
I grew up here with freedoms they didn’t always have.
The freedom to speak up, disagree, make my own choices and actually have a voice in my government.
It’s a big reason I don’t believe every problem needs a bigger government solution!
We can help people without taking more choices out of their hands.
I also know that if I’m elected, I’m not walking into Augusta and magically getting everything I want passed. There will be bills and issues none of us are even talking about today.
That was the point I was trying to make.
Yes, you should know my positions. But I think you should also know who you’re sending to Augusta.
What do they value? What do they believe government is there to do? And when something comes up that wasn’t on their campaign website, what will guide their decision?
Because the decisions we make today don’t end with us.
We talk about “future taxpayers” like they’re some group of strangers far off in the future.
They’re our children.
They’re the ones who will inherit the spending, the taxes, the laws…
and the consequences of the decisions we make today.
I want them to inherit a future where they still have a voice and a choice in what comes next.
That’s what I’m fighting for.
