What a great night of great movies!
🌛🍿🎬🚘🚖🚘🎥🖥️🌜

Movies Under the Stars - OUB’s Digital Cinema Program’s showcase of films - has become the unofficial start of summer for fans, and this year 48 carloads of movie lovers pulled up to the Warwick Drive-In for the show.

With an impressive runtime of 1 hour and 45 minutes, an amazing audience, and spring weather that no visual effects supervisor could match, it was truly a perfect night. The camaraderie among the OUB's student cinematographers is really special, and the family, friends and faculty that came came out to see their work on the big screen made the event even more unforgettable.

A very special thank you to the Warwick Drive-In Theater for welcoming our students and creating such a memorable evening!

OUB staff traded their work shoes for sneakers and headed outside after work for our annual Heroes on the Run, a 5K-ish run/walk around the Amy Bull Crist Campus on Gibson Road! 👟🇺🇸

Along the route, signs honored colleagues who have served, a reminder of the heroes right here at OUB.

Participants also donated items to the “United for the Troops Wish List,” raising a substantial stash of snacks and personal care items for our deployed troops. From chapstick and body lotion to Pop-Tarts and hot chocolate, we hope these donations bring a little comfort and a reminder that we’re thinking of our service members. ❤️🤍💙

And a special thank you to the OUB Wellness Committee for bringing everyone together for this great event!

We’re so grateful for the more than 100 industry and community partners who joined us for our annual OUB Partnership Breakfast.

This very special event recognizes the vital role our partners play in supporting student success through clinical placements, internships, mentorships, and workplace learning experiences.

Thanks to them, this year OUB CTE students completed more than 45,000 hours through over 200 partnerships across Orange County. Every hour represents a future healthcare professional, technician, tradesperson, educator, or leader moving one step closer to their goal.

The morning included a beautiful breakfast prepared by OUB's skilled and talented Culinary Program students.

A special congratulations - and thank you - to our Advisory Board Member of the Year, Lauren Comizio of Healey Brothers Automotive Ford, and our Business Partner of the Year, Garnet Health Medical Center.

Meet OUB alumnus and Orange County Deputy Sheriff Joseph Carey!

A 2016 graduate of OUB’s Law Enforcement Program and Minisink Valley CSD, Joseph enlisted in the U.S. Army right after high school. Now a member of the Sheriff’s Department, he continues to serve as an active member of the New York Army National Guard.

“BOCES was such an amazing experience,” he said. “I almost think it should be mandatory for all high school students, and I’ll make sure my kids come here. It's an amazing place and it just keeps getting better and better.”

A true hero, Deputy Carey responded without hesitation when, while off duty, came upon a serious motorcycle crash. His quick thinking and immediate first aid are credited with saving the motorcyclist’s life and leg, and he received the NYS Division of Criminal Justice Services 2024 Lifesaving Award for his extraordinary courage and compassion.

We are proud to celebrate Deputy Carey's dedication, leadership, and service to both his community and our country. 🧡🩵🧡

A huge THANK YOU to the incredible OUB crew for accomplishing a monumental community effort this school budget and Board of Education election season!

From our designers, print team, Including Communities students, shipping and receiving, Records Management, the technology team, Operations staff, and more, every person played an important role in making sure crucial information reached voters in time to make informed decisions about their tax dollars and BOE representation.

Together, the team proudly served 21 school districts, delivering more than 202,000 newsletters and postcards into local mailboxes ahead of election day. What's more, they designed, produced and delivered everything districts need on Election Day, from banners to interior signage to absentee ballots. That’s an amazing achievement and a true example of collaboration in action.

“What happened here over the past three weeks was intense,” said Communications Coordinator Catherine Sherlock. “The districts and the voters really rely on this service, and I’m in awe of the great work and the amazing teamwork.”

Thank you all for your dedication and commitment to serving our communities! 🧡💙🧡

A big OUB thank you to all of the agencies who visited our Axelrod campus for another amazing Guard X Day!

This event provided an incredible hands-on opportunity for students to explore career pathways while interacting with exciting technology and equipment, from helicopters and tactical vehicles to physical challenges like the inflatable obstacle course and rock wall.

For students in OUB’s CTE programs such as Aviation, Cybersecurity, Law Enforcement, Exercise Science, Automotive, and more, the day was a great chance to speak directly with professionals, ask questions, and gain valuable insight into different fields and opportunities.

Hosted by the Army National Guard, Guard X also included many of our local partners - such as the Orange County Sheriff’s Department and New York State Police - who were on hand to share their time and experiences.
