Mid-Hudson Prevention Resource Center

Mid-Hudson Prevention Resource Center The PRC was established by OASAS to be an intermediary supplier of training & technical assistance to community coalitions in New York's Mid-Hudson region.

The MHPRC is located at the Alcoholism and Drug Abuse Council of Orange County and we serve the seven counties of the Mid-Hudson Region (Orange, Rockland, Westchester, Putnam, Dutchess, Ulster and Sullivan). Our objective is to create, support and guide community coalitions as they strategically address substance abuse in their communities. Community coalitions are usually comprised of community volunteers from local businesses, civic organizations, schools, police, fire departments, youth and any other residents who want to make a difference. We help coalition members build their volunteer base, asses the resources and needs specific to their community and draft a plan to address them. The MHPRC also engages the prevention providers in the Mid-Hudson region to connect with their local community coalitions. This work is done through trainings and technical assistance to community coalition members/leaders, community members, and prevention provider staff. The MHPRC is one of 6 PRCs across the state and we are able to tap into the successes, challenges, activities and ideas of coalitions and providers working to make a difference. When to call us… When members of your community feel substance abuse is a problem locally but aren’t sure what to do about it. When members of your community have begun to take action on substance abuse issues but could use more guidance when strategizing. When your coalition could benefit from objective facilitation between diverse sectors of your community. When you are looking to increase coalition participation and membership. When you want to connect to others in the field who may have additional resources. When you, your agency, or community sees a gap in substance abuse prevention knowledge.

The Orange County Youth Bureau's Youth Program Tech Michael Bark and Executive Director Rachel Wilson were excited to stop by the City of Middletown, NY Recreation Center to continue the #thankitforward campaign by showing appreciation for the hard work and dedication of the Middletown Recreation & Parks Department and the City of Middletown Police Department- NY. 👏

Superintendent for Recreation and Parks – and OCYB Advisory Board member – Christine Brinckerhoff (a.k.a. Brink) and Police Officer Beebe were on hand to accept the sign presented by the OCYB through the partnership of The Alcoholism & Drug Abuse Council of Orange County, the Orange County STOP DWI & Traffic Safety Program, and the Mid-Hudson Prevention Resource Center.

During the visit, Brink showed off their food pantry stocked with dry goods, milk, eggs, paper products, and diapers to include in the many care packages they deliver to the front doors of their neighbors in need. This is just a sampling of the outreach efforts on behalf of the City of Middletown, in partnership with the Middletown School District, to keep families and seniors cared for during this time.
