**Winter Storm Fern Operational Update**
As Winter Storm Fern impacts the region, the Goshen First Aid Crew, Inc. is implementing enhanced readiness measures to ensure continued emergency medical response for our community.
**Ambulance 132 – Operational Status**
Ambulance 132 will be fully staffed at the Basic Life Support (BLS) level with two EMT/Extrication Technicians. This unit will serve as our first-out ambulance for all emergency calls during the storm.
**Extrication & Medical Equipment**
Ambulance 132 will be equipped with a full complement of extrication and medical equipment, including:
- One combi tool
- One hydraulic ram
- One hydraulic pump
- Vehicle stabilization equipment
- Two lifting airbags
- Standard BLS equipment
- ALS equipment
These capabilities allow the crew to respond effectively to motor vehicle collisions and other incidents where entrapment or technical rescue may be involved.
**Transport Destinations**
During Winter Storm Fern, the Goshen First Aid Crew, Inc. will transport patients to:
- Carilion Rockbridge Community Hospital, or
- The closest facility to the incident location
This approach ensures timely access to care while accounting for hazardous travel conditions.
**Response Time Advisory**
Due to deteriorating road conditions and reduced visibility associated with Winter Storm Fern, response times may be slower than normal. Our crews will be operating with heightened caution to ensure the safety of patients, responders, and the public.
The Goshen First Aid Crew, Inc. remains committed to providing reliable emergency medical services throughout the duration of the storm. We encourage residents to stay off the roads whenever possible and to use 911 only for emergencies.
