🍎🎃 What a fun-filled month at Waterford Elementary! 🎃🍎

This month has been packed with excitement has definitely kept us busy! Our kindergarteners went on their very first field trip to our local apple orchard, Kercher’s! 🍏

Students learned about the different varieties of apples grown at the orchard and which ones are the most popular. They also got to explore a little corn maze filled with some corny jokes, enjoy a hayride, and taste a Pixie Crisp apple! 🍎

Mrs. Apple even taught them about the different types of apple eaters! Some people eat one side first, others take bites all over, some work their way around the apple, and only a few eat the whole thing! We wonder what kind of apple eaters our Wildcats are! 😋

We also wrapped up the week of Oct 9th with our Waterford Harvest Carnival! 🎃❤️ It was wonderful seeing so many Waterford families come out to play games, enjoy dinner, and spend quality time together. Thank you to everyone who came out and helped make it such a special evening for our school community!

❤️🖤🤍 Celebrating Attendance & Our Wildcat Leaders! 🐾
This week, we celebrated so many things as we wrapped up our first quarter and had parent-teacher conferences. One fun celebration was a Popcorn with the Principal party focusing on attendance! 🎉 Students who missed 3 days or fewer during the first 9 weeks of school were rewarded with some delicious popcorn and extra recess! 🍿☀️
Attendance matters because it helps students stay on track with their learning. We encourage all our Waterford families to make school attendance a priority and help their children be here every day! Every day of learning counts! 📚
We are also celebrating our August and September Wildcat Leaders! 🐾❤️ These students have shown their classmates what it means to follow the Wildcat Way by setting a positive example for their peers and showing our traits for responsibility, safety, perseverance, kindness, and respect.. We are so proud of these students for being leaders and representing what makes Waterford special!
Way to go, Wildcats! Keep showing up, working hard, and leading the Waterford way! ❤️🖤🤍

❤️🖤🤍 October is off to a busy start at Waterford Elementary! 🐾

We’ve already had so many wonderful things happening around our school! Our All Pro Dad chapter brought dads and their kids together for fun activities and meaningful time together. We love seeing families getting involved and making special memories! ❤️

⚽ We also had our Goshen Elementary Soccer Tournament, where our elementary schools competed against one another! While we didn’t bring home the win this time, our Waterford Wildcats had a blast, showed great sportsmanship, and made us proud! Way to go, Wildcats! 🐾

🏈 Last week, we had some special guests welcoming our students to school! The Goshen High School football and cheerleader greeters were here to greet our Waterford Wildcats as they arrived, helping kick off the day with smiles and school spirit!

We’re so thankful for the wonderful opportunities, community support, and special moments that make Waterford such a great place to be! ❤️🖤🤍

❤️🫀 Learning About the Heart at Waterford Elementary! 🫀❤️

Last week, our Waterford students got their hearts pumping as they scootered, ran, jumped, and crawled through an interactive heart obstacle course! 🛴🏃‍♀️ The course mimicked the journey of a blood cell as it travels through the heart and lungs. Students carried red foam representing oxygen or blue foam representing carbon dioxide, depending on where they were in the course. 🔴🔵

For our 4th graders, this obstacle course was the perfect capstone to their first quarter of learning about the heart and circulatory system. They also explored what it means to have a “great heart” by showing courage! ❤️💪

Our Kindergarten through 3rd-grade students learned some amazing facts, too! They discovered that their heart is about the size of their fist, that the heart is a muscle, and that it will continue growing as they grow. They also learned how to take care of their hearts through exercise, healthy foods, and plenty of sleep! 🍎🏃‍♂️😴

Tonight is our Big Harvest Carnival!

⏰ Carnival Time: 4:30–6:30 PM
We wanted to go over a few important details to help everyone have a fun and enjoyable evening!
🎪 Games: This year, our games will be located in our playground, which will allow us to have more parking available in our school parking lot.
🍔 Food Trucks: Our food trucks will be located in the car line drop-off/pick-up area. We have some great options joining us tomorrow:

🍧 Kona Ice
📋 Menus for our food trucks are attached so you can check out what will be available tomorrow!

🪑 We encourage families to bring lawn chairs so you can sit back, relax, and enjoy your dinner while spending time together!

✨ What a fun week we had at Waterford Elementary! ❤️🖤🤍

This week was filled with school spirit, fun, learning, and lots of reasons to celebrate our Wildcats! 🐾✨

🎓 College Go Week was a big hit! Our students and staff had fun celebrating their future possibilities with some awesome spirit days:

👔 Dress as Your Future Career – What do you want to be when you grow up?
✨ Dress Your Best – Wear an outfit that makes you feel ready for success.
😴 Pajama Day – Dream BIG about your future!
🏈🏀⚾ Wear College Gear or Colors – Represent a college you know or Love!
🧢 Hat Day- Hats off to college and Career Awareness.

☕ Our Coffee Cart Brewed was also a HUGE success! From the moment they arrived, they were nonstop making coffees and serving up delicious drinks! ☕❤️ Thank you to everyone who purchased a drink and helped support Waterford Elementary. And a very special thank you to those who purchased a drink for some of our amazing staff members! Your kindness and generosity mean so much to us. ❤️🖤🤍

🌎 We also had a wonderful EL Family Event last week! We were so excited to see so many of our EL families join us. Families had the opportunity to learn about ways they can support their students' learning at home, ask questions, and receive helpful resources and information. 📚🏠💬

✨ Lots of exciting things are happening at Waterford Elementary! ❤️🖤🤍

Our Leadership Students officially got started last week, and they are already making a difference around our school! 🌟

💪 They helped unload our beautiful mums, 🎙️ began helping with morning announcements, and ♻️ started taking on their recycling duties. We are so proud to see our students stepping up, taking responsibility, and showing what it means to be a leader!

💭 Feelings & Emotions: Our school counselor, Mrs. Martin, has also been spending time with our students talking about feelings and emotions. These conversations help our students understand their feelings, learn healthy ways to express themselves, and build skills for navigating everyday challenges. ❤️

👨‍👧‍👦 ALL PRO DAD IS COMING! 🎉

Join us on October 1st as we launch our All Pro Dad Chapter for the new school year! Dads and kids will have the opportunity to connect through fun activities and meaningful conversations each month. 🏆❤️

✨ What a busy week it was at Waterford Elementary! ❤️🖤🤍

Even with a short school week because of Labor Day, our Wildcats packed it full of learning, adventure, connection, and plenty of Waterford pride! 📚🌎✨

🏕️ Our 4th graders went on their very first field trip to Camp Friedenswald! From the smiles and excitement, it looks like they had an absolute blast! We love seeing our students learning, exploring, and making memories outside of the classroom. 🌲🚌☀️

🤝 Our PACT Mentors from Goshen High School also got started this week! Our high school mentors met their students and began building those special connections that make mentoring so meaningful. We’re excited to see these relationships grow throughout the year! ❤️🖤🤍

🎟️ And Friday was a BIG day for our Golden Ticket winners! ⭐ Students who have been showing one of the Wildcat Ways—being Responsible, Kind, Safe, Hardworking, and Persevering—have been earning Golden Tickets for their positive choices and actions. 🐾⭐

Congratulations to our Golden Ticket winners! 🎉 Our 2nd, 3rd, and 4th grade winners get a very special reward: lunch with two friends at their very own lunch table! 🍎🥪👫 What a fun way to celebrate students who are making great choices and showing what it means to be a Waterford Wildcat!

✨ It’s been a busy week at Waterford Elementary!

Our Wildcats have been working hard, learning, growing, and making memories—and now it’s time to enjoy a nice, long 3-day weekend! We hope our students and families have a safe, relaxing, and fun Labor Day weekend. We’ll see everyone back at school on Tuesday, ready for another great week! 📚🌎✨

Here’s something extra special—this new candy was created by our very own Waterford 3rd grade students last year! Their creativity made it all the way from the classroom to a local shop! How cool is that? 🎉

🌟 5 Ways to Start the School Day on a Positive Note

Coming back from a long weekend can make mornings a little tricky, so here are five simple ways to help our elementary students start the day strong:

1️⃣ Get a good night’s sleep. 💤 A rested brain is a ready-to-learn brain!

2️⃣ Eat a healthy breakfast. 🍎🥛 Starting the day with a good breakfast helps give students the energy they need to learn and participate.

3️⃣ Get organized the night before. 🎒 Pick out clothes, pack backpacks, and get everything ready before bedtime to make mornings less stressful.

4️⃣ Start with a positive thought. 💭 Encourage your child to think of one thing they’re excited about at school or one goal they want to accomplish that day.

5️⃣ Walk in with a smile and a “ready to learn” attitude! 😊📚 A positive start can make a big difference in the rest of the day.
