**PRESS RELEASE** - Super Bowl LIX Impaired Driving Initiative
Orange County STOP DWI Coordinator, Robert L. Doss, announced today that Orange County police agencies and the STOP-DWI Program will participate in a combined effort to bring awareness to the dangers of impaired driving, prevent injuries and save lives this Super Bowl Weekend.
Law enforcement officers across New York State and STOP-DWI programs will be participating in special engagement efforts. The statewide STOP-DWI High Visibility Engagement Campaign will start on Saturday, February 8, 2025, and end on Monday, February 10, 2025.
STOP DWI Administrator, John E. Jones, reminds everyone, āAs you watch this yearās Super Bowl, donāt let too much to drink put you in the āendā zone. Our police officers, deputies, and troopers will be out in full force across the county. Be responsible and always have a plan to get home safeā.
Orange County Sheriff, Paul Arteta suggests, āIf you are going to drink this Superbowl weekend, do it responsibly. Have a plan, use a designated driver, a taxi, or a shared ride service. Law enforcement will be having targeted patrols to try and avert another preventable tragedy. Save your life before itās too lateā.
The Super Bowl is Americaās most watched national sporting event and Super Bowl Weekend is historically a deadly period for impaired driving.
