We are pleased to announce that Governor Kathy Hochul has officially signed the home rule request correcting the county's longstanding sales tax sharing error.

Under New York State law, counties may share up to 3.0% of sales tax with municipalities. The county had been sharing 3.75%, which is above the legal limit. Our caucus led the effort to correct this error while ensuring the county could continue sharing at the 3.75% rate going forward, and we thank our state legislative partners for acting quickly to resolve it.

Municipal leaders concerned about a potential loss in sales tax revenue can rest assured: we advocated and communicated consistently with our state partners to resolve this before next week’s sales tax disbursement.

The Homeland Security Administration is looking to develop an ICE facility in the Newburgh Commerce Park off Route 17K across from New York Stewart International Airport.

Stand alongside leaders and activists from the Town of Newburgh and surrounding communities, and hear how we can take collective action to ensure the Hudson Valley remains safe for our immigrant friends and neighbors. When we came together earlier this year, public opposition was enough to prevent the development of a detention center in the Town of Chester. Silence is not an option, and we once again need to make our voices heard.

PASSED! ✅ We just capped the gas sales tax at $2. While the vote wasn’t unanimous, it passed with support from both sides of the aisle. Starting September 1st, this goes into effect. We will always work to deliver for you!
