Our community invites you to Military Appreciation Day on Saturday, June 13, 2026!

We are grateful to have a UH-60 Black Hawk land at 0845, Howitzer Cannon will shoot off blanks at 0930, and a Humvee on display for the day.

Free lunch for all military and lots of fun all day at the Gowrie Municipal Golf Course!

Open to the public - all ages are encouraged to come show their support to our American Heroes.

Mark your calendar for Sunday, June 28th! Big day in Gowrie - support the Gowrie Parks Board for Park-A-Palooza!!

The Gowrie Parks Board is inviting the community to Laurel Park for a family-friendly fundraising event focused on raising money for a new playground at Gowrie City Park. The event will feature activities for all ages, including pickleball and disc golf tournaments. Community members can also enjoy co****le and horseshoes throughout the afternoon. Additional activities will include kids games, food, music, and a 50/50 raffle.

Park-A-Palooza is part of the Parks Board’s larger effort to replace the outdated playground equipment and create a safe, welcoming space for families and children in the community.

Everyone is encouraged to stop by Market on Market and then spend the rest of the afternoon participating in activities and supporting the Gowrie Parks Board!

Congratulations to Jim Peterson on this recognition!

An Army veteran from Gowrie who was once the state leader of the American Legion was honored Monday during the Memorial Day observance at Terry Moehnke Veterans Memorial Park.
Jim Peterson received the Veteran of the Year Award from the Fort Dodge Veterans Council from Tom Dorsey, the commandant of the council.
Peterson was drafted into the Army in 1970 and served in West Germany.
He was discharged in 1973 and immediately joined the Iowa Army National Guard. He served in the National Guard for 16 years, then transferred to the Army Reserve, where he served for 12 years.
