Northeast, East Central and Northwest Fire responded to a structure fire in the 11,000 block of Notestine Road at 08:59 hours on August 10.
Battalion 240 and Engine Company 141 arrived simultaneously to find a fully involved outbuilding containing a diesel generator, positioned in close proximity to a large barn. Fire crews also identified multiple significant exposures, including a large diesel tote, a propane cylinder, and two 55‑gallon fuel drums.
Engine 141 deployed two hand lines immediately—one dedicated to cooling the threatened exposures, while the second line was positioned for fire attack and later staffed by Engine 242. With both lines charged, members quickly gained control of the incident. Engine 261 completed overhaul operations and confirmed no extension into nearby structures.
Due to the rural location, water supply was maintained through booster tanks from Engine 141, Engine 242, Engine 261, and Tanker 164. The rapid response and decisive actions of all personnel successfully confined the fire to the structure of origin, preventing significant damage and saving the property owner many thousands of dollars in potential repairs.
The incident was brought under control in under one hour, and all companies returned to service. The storms today have continued to keep the entire county busy. Stay weather aware and look out for your loved ones. We are here county wide if needed!
