Traumatic Brain Injury and PTSD Salute bill. Dedicated to my dad Former Specialist William L. Rainey.
TO ALL THE DAMAGED BUT NOT DESTROYED INCARCERATED VETERANS: Happy Veterans Day.We salute you!...
*Call To Action*
Calling all Veterans, Active Duty Service Members, and Patriots. This Veterans Day we are raising awareness about the Discriminatory laws and policies that deprive these Veterans of the Compensation benefits and Healthcare (treatment and therapy) they need and have been denied simply because they are incarcerated!.
Before I was even born my dad was suffering from an undiagnosed and untreated TBI (Traumatic Brain Injury with emotional and behavioral dysfunction). Today he is serving a life sentence in TDCJ. On or about June 1,2023 I personally received proof that a VA contracted Neurologist diagnosed my dad with a military service connected TBI and linked his incarceration to his emotional and behavioral dysfunction or the residuals of his TBI. For years family members, Judges, and Prosecutors have all Judged my father without knowledge of the Truth behind his emotional and behavioral dysfunction. Today we KNOW the cause of his emotional and behavioral dysfunction yet he sits inside a prison suffering from chronic pain, migraines, virtigo, suicidal thoughts and other service connected injuries unable to receive the treatment and therapy he needs. Sadly my father is not alone. Our country sends our Veterans to prison at a higher rate than any other country. Then it strips them of the Compensation benefits and Health Care they earned simply because they are incarcerated. THIS HAS TO CHANGE!!
This is not new scientists and the VA has known about this link between TBI's ,PTSD and incarceration for years yet have done nothing to change the laws or policies that continue to disadvantage our Incarcerated Veterans. THIS HAS TO CHANGE!!!! And we need all Veterans, Active Duty Service members, and Patriots to help. I personally believe I have proof of my dads innocence and did not receive a fair trial, but even without this evidence we now know that his emotional and behavioral dysfunction is directly linked to his TBI. Don't you agree that this truth is something the jury should have heard? If you were a Juror would you want to have all the facts about someone before you judge them? Yet current laws and policies reduce his compensation benefits so we are unable to afford an attorney and other policies or laws deprive him of getting the treatment and therapy he deserves by leaving that health care up to TDCJ. This has to change!!!
