Advancing Creative Careers through Computer Aided Design….is a STEM based curriculum featuring course work in physical Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics. Graduates of the program should have a thorough understanding of the techniques required to design and produce drawings of mechanical system and components. Extensive emphasis is placed on Computer Aided Design (CAD) applications

using current leading software as well as 3D printing and prototyping. Of additional importance is the ability to place significant attention on detail and create technically correct drawings based upon current industry standards. Course work includes mechanical drafting, CAD, 3D modeling, and proper drawing documentation. Concepts such as machine shop processes, basic materials, and physical sciences as they relate to the design process are also included.

Sunday marks the end of fall break for Alamance Community College. We have experienced a lot of amazing things as a campus and as a department. Our Women in Science, Design, Engineering, & Manufacturing (WiSDEM) campaign has begun expanding with more outreach events, we have developed additional articulation agreements and have 4 more pending. Our students are graduating with multiple SolidWorks certifications and awards and every graduate who seeks a job has had several offers to choose between.

The CAD department has grown through expansion by adding Mechanical Engineering Technology and most recently have acquired the Computer Integrated Machining program.
We are now proposing the addition of Construction Management and Architectural programs.
Ashley Lewis our Lead Instructor of CAD joined our team for Fall 2021 and has worked tirelessly to engage students from all walks of life and give them an opportunity to build a career in Design. Dan Quatrone, our Lead instructor of CIM brings almost 15 years of instruction plus years of experience from industry into the classrooms. Laura Michael, a Certified SolidWorks Professional compliments our team by teaching the evening Introduction to Solid Modeling class for us.
These individuals and I represent the Design, Engineering & Manufacturing team of WiSDEM.
