Vaccine Update Meeting THIS Thursday! : We often feel that living in Texas means we are safe from government overreach, medical tyranny, and the liberal agenda. This is not the case. We need to be more vigilant than ever in guarding our liberties. That’s why we have invited our friends at Texans for Vaccine Choice to join us this month and give us their Vaccine Safety Overview presentation, as well as a look ahead at their priorities for the Texas GOP convention. Texans for Vaccine Choice is joining us to provide vital information about the changing vaccine landscape along with steps you can take to join in the battle for medical liberty in Texas.

ALERT TO EDUCATORS & CITIZENS

State Board of Education ACTION ITEM

The most important part of the agenda is happening on Tuesday, April 7th, where they will take testimony in public hearing on new TEKS (Texas Essential Knowledge & Skills) for Social Studies Curriculum. We’ve learned that Muslims are organizing people to attend and testify that Islam should be included. We need as many people as possible to show up to counter their testimony.

from the President of True Texas Project - Fran Rhodes
There are 3 issues before the board this week that need comment from the public. Two of them happen on April 7th, starting at 8:00 am and one on April 8th, starting at 9:00 am. Within the April 7th agenda, are three opportunities to defeat Islamic influence.

Tuesday April 7 - Agenda Item #3: A public hearing where testimony will be presented regarding proposed new Social Studies TEKS, bringing into consideration several new issues as a result of HB27, and HB824, and SB24. At a special meeting of the SBOE in Feb, several Muslim groups spoke on this issue, lobbying for Islamic issues to be included in social studies TEKS. We need people to testify at this public hearing (where decisions will be made) to keep Islam, and sharia out of the public school TEKS, and focus on traditional, America first principles. There are 3 areas of focus for this testimony.
First – Just general testimony on the importance of history lessons being focused on actual facts, dates and happenings, and not include woke revisionist history. Testimony should emphasize that Islam and sharia should not be included in the social studies curriculum, since Islam had nothing to do with the founding or history of the United States.
Second - HB24 (89R) included a government component of the social studies curriculum. HB824 requires additional instruction in civics, role of government officials, voting process, running for office, and Roberts Rules of Order. Witnesses might use this opportunity to emphasize that sharia law components must never be incorporated into the role of government since it is in conflict with both the US and Texas Constitutions.
Third – SB24 (89R) included instructions to the SBOE to develop students’ understanding of communist regimes and ideologies that provide age and developmentally appropriate instruction and information on the topic. This section is a chance to remind board members that Islam is a communist based ideology, and that students should learn (at appropriate levels) the harms of Islamic/communist regimes imposed on their citizens.
Tuesday April 7th - Agenda Item #1: This is a proposed change to the TEKS for language arts and reading – specifically literary works lists for all grades K-12. These changes are a result of HB 1605, passed in the 88th Regular session. The board will consider this Agenda item for first reading and filing authorization. (the first step in the SBOE process). We would like for people to encourage the board to include founding documents, the Bible, and other patriotic documents and writings in the literary works list, and to specifically exclude Islamic texts.

Wednesday April 8th - Agenda Item #4: Per SB204 (89R), ISD Trustees are required to participate in training on the rights of a parent regarding education of their child. The SBOE is tasked with writing the program for this training. The board will consider and approve the parental rights training that has been proposed by the Committee and the TEA.

The primary thing to stress in this section is that the training should be a 5-hour course, as recommended by the bill’s author, Senator Angela Paxton. At the January meeting of the SBOE, some members claimed that the training should be 1 or 3 hours, not 5. You can see the entire program at this link. Scroll to the agenda for Wednesday April 8th, then find Item #4, click on the blue "board agenda" link, then scroll to the training.

ACTION ITEMS
Attend either Tuesday or Wednesday or both, and testify on the items listed above. You can register online starting at 8:00 am on Tuesday 3/31, continuing through 5:00 pm on Friday 4/3. You can also register on site up to 30 minutes prior to the start of the meeting, subject to the approval of the chair. (We suggest you sign up in advance on line!) Please click here for the link to sign up and for instructions on testimony. Read the instructions carefully! It’s a little more complicated than testimony at House or Senate hearings.
If you cannot attend - this same sign up link can be used to send testimony electronically.
Whether you attend or not, contact your SBOE member to let them know your opinions on the agenda items 1 and 3 for Tuesday and agenda item 4 on Wednesday. Click here to find SBOE members and their contact information.
Complete SBOE Agenda with details can be found here.

BUS INFORMATION:

True Texas Project, with the help of Patriot Mobile, is happy to sponsor a bus to the Capitol on Tuesday April 7th for citizens who wish to testify or be present for the SBOE meeting. The bus will depart from First Baptist Church Gr**evine, 301 East Texas Street, Gr**evine at 5:00 am on Tuesday April 7. The bus will return to Gr**evine Tuesday evening, approximately 10:00 pm. The bus is free, but you MUST MAKE A RESERVATION.

Click here to reserve your spot on the Gr**evine bus

The Denton County GOP is also sponsoring a bus departing from the Denton County Administrative Courthouse, 1 Courthouse Dr, Denton, TX 76208 at 3:30 am on Tuesday April 7. Estimated return time is 10:00 pm

Click here to reserve your spot on the Denton Bus

Please go to the SBOE meeting if you are able, and if not, use the on-line testimony link to make comments remotely. Also be sure to contact YOUR SBOE member and let them know your position. This is a critical issue, and perfect opportunity to make it clear that we do not want Islamic teachings in our Texas public schools.

If you have questions or need further information, just reply to this email. I'll be at the hearing on Tuesday, but will not be on the bus since I'm staying over for another event that week. I hope to see many of you at the hearing!

Thanks for staying engaged!

Don’t Sharia My Texas!
You’ve probably been hearing a lot about the advancement of Muslims in Texas. If you think it’s not a problem, you need to think again!
We can legally stop sharia laws because they are not compatible with our constitutions. It is anti-freedom, suppresses and abuses women, and relies on physical abuse to force compliance. These practices cannot be accepted and tolerated in our Texas culture.
Just a few examples of sharia practices that violate the constitution or existing law include:
Punishment for dissent – Violates First Amendment Freedom of Speech
Forced Marriage or coercion – Violates human trafficking and coercion stations & domestic violence laws
Underage marriage – Violates State child-marriage restrictions, and statutory r**e laws
Female ge***al mutilation is an accepted practice – Federally criminalized under 18 U.S.C.S116.
At the summit, we broke into groups to discuss different aspects of the effort – legislation, legislative priorities, media, the church, local political activism. It’s a work in progress, but we have several action items that need to be employed right now, and we urge your help.
Action Items:
1) Vote YES on Prop 10 – On March 3rd, when you vote in the Republican Primary, there are 10 Ballot Propositions on the ballot. Number 10 is “Ban sharia law in Texas”. We need that proposition to pass with overwhelming majority. Although those propositions are not binding, they do send a message to citizens, legislators and Republican leaders about the wishes of Republican voters. We need to make it a priority. DONE!
2) Make the sharia issue a voting issue – As you make your voting decisions, be sure to support candidates who will pledge to fight back against the advancement of sharia influence, and the acceptance of any sharia principles in Texas culture. DONE!
3) Participate in the Convention Process – After the election, we need to turn that proposition into action by participating in the RPT Convention process. The goal is to get the ban sharia issue on the RPT legislative priorities list. This requires several steps:
a) Attend your precinct convention shortly after the March 3rd election and submit resolutions to ban sharia law to your precinct convention. DONE!
b) Attend your SD or County convention on March 28, and make sure that the sharia resolutions proceed to the state level. DONE!
c) Attend State Convention June 8 – 13, and vote for the ban sharia issue to be on the legislative priorities list. LARGE GROUP OF HOOD COUNTY CONSERVATIVES ARE GOING TO REPRESENT YOU AND I ON THIS TOPIC! IN PROCESS! ( some could use financial help if you want to help get them there .. all of this is voluntary and each delegate pays for room/food/travel, etc.)
d) If possible, attend state convention on Monday through Wednesday as well as the final 3 days so that you can attend and testify at the Legislative Priorities Committee meetings. IN PROCESS
4) Turn the ban sharia issue into a legislative mandate – During the 90th Session of the Legislature, it is important that we hold lawmakers accountable for supporting this issue. Be active with your House Reps and State Senators to voice your opinions. Follow their votes on any sharia issue. Call them out when they do the wrong thing, and praise them when they do the right thing. Join TTP activists at the Capitol throughout the session to work on our legislative priorities. STAY STEADY HERE - THE 90TH IS COMING!
5) Prayer – This is not a political battle, it’s a spiritual one for Christians, and any other non-Muslim group. Please be in prayer about this every day. The Intercessors For America have produced this 30-day prayer guide, full of useful information as well as 30 days of prayer suggestions, with specific prayer requests each day. I encourage you to use it and learn as much as you can about Islam and sharia, as you pray for our State and our Country. ALWAYS!

Teacher ALERT: The Easter story appears throughout art, literature, music, and history. Yet many educators wonder whether it can be discussed in a public school classroom. The answer is yes, when it is taught academically and objectively rather than devotionally.
Some states provide educators with detailed standards for what students should learn about the Bible and Christianity. For example, in California, sixth-grade students are expected to:
"Note the origins of Christianity in the Jewish Messianic prophecies, the life and teachings of Jesus of Nazareth as described in the New Testament, and the contribution of St. Paul the Apostle to the definition and spread of Christian beliefs (e.g., belief in the Trinity, resurrection, salvation)."

The Easter story, the death and resurrection of Jesus, is central to Christianity and has influenced countless works of art, literature, and social movements. From Leonardo da Vinci's The Last Supper to The Lord of the Rings, understanding the events of Easter helps students better grasp the cultural and historical foundations behind many important works and ideas.

That's why Gateways' free Easter Lesson helps educators present Easter as both a cultural and religious event, just like other religious holidays discussed in classrooms. The lesson is a paraphrase of Luke 22–24 and is designed to resemble textbook pages, allowing teachers to introduce the Easter story in an academic way.

The lesson provides:
A historical overview of Easter's significance
Educational connections that fit within the school curriculum
Legal guidance on discussing Easter in public schools
When presented with the goal of education, not a devotion, recognizing Easter in the classroom helps students better understand history, literature, and the ideas that have shaped our culture.
