A HUGE THANK YOU to everyone who came out today, September 5th, to help me canvass in Granby!

We split into three groups and reached more than 40 homes, knocking on doors, talking with residents, listening to concerns, and making connections throughout the community.

I especially want to thank Randy Wilkinson, Jordan Harcleroad, Tim Allers, Amy Venskus, Christine Vestigo, and Aliza Ellner for giving up part of their Saturday to walk alongside me and help make today such a success. Your time, energy, and support meant more to me than you know.

I also want to give a special shout-out to Aliza Ellner, pictured here. She is new to all of this, but you certainly wouldn't know it! She jumped right in and made the day so much easier with her enthusiasm and support. Aliza has also been helping Dorothy Caldwell, her current County Legislator, which says a lot about her willingness to get involved and support the people working for her community.

Grassroots campaigns really are about people helping people. You don't need years of political experience to make a difference. Sometimes it simply starts with being willing to show up, knock on that first door, listen to your neighbors, and get involved.

And, of course, thank you to the Granby residents who opened their doors and took the time to talk with us. Every conversation matters. Whether we agree on everything or not, I believe representation starts with showing up and listening.

Three teams. More than 40 homes. A lot of walking, and some really great conversations!

OSWEGO — The Oswego County Legislature will consider a resolution next week that would effectively ignore President Donald Trump’s recent order changing Lake Ontario’s name to Lake America.

Too often, I hear people say, “My vote doesn’t matter.” I cannot emphasize this enough: YES, IT DOES.

Don’t assume things will simply work themselves out or that someone else will show up and make the difference. Elections are decided by the people who actually cast their ballots.

Just ask your local legislators or other town government officials, how many votes separated them from their opponents. Some may tell you hundreds. Others will tell you the margin was surprisingly small. In 2025, I won my election by 40 votes. Think about that. Had those voters decided their vote didn’t matter and stayed home, I could have been on the outside looking in, without the opportunity to serve, speak up, ask questions, or work toward the changes I believe our community needs.

The voting record done by Tenney, in this post, is another reminder of why elections matter. The people we elect make decisions that affect veterans, farmers, families, healthcare, food safety, our history, and our future. Whether you agree or disagree with those decisions, your opportunity to have a say begins at the ballot box.

Never underestimate the power of one vote. Forty-one people could have changed the outcome of my race.

Your vote counts. Your voice counts. Show up and use both.

Today was one of those moments in public service that I truly took in and appreciated.

While Republicans and Democrats may have different views on many economic and policy issues, today was a reminder that there are times when party lines simply do not matter. When it comes to protecting the identity, history, and future of our community, we can stand together.

During today’s Government, Courts and Consumer Affairs Committee meeting, we discussed the importance of preserving the name Lake Ontario. That name is more than words on a map. It is part of our history, our identity, our tourism, our economy, and the story of Oswego County. For generations, Lake Ontario has helped shape our communities and contributed to the success of our region. We see no reason to rebrand something that has represented us so well for so long.

I was especially proud to hear legislators from both parties express the importance of standing with our community and recognizing our relationship with our Canadian neighbors. Despite what may be happening at the federal level, we want our neighbors across the lake to know that they remain important to our communities, our businesses, and our shared future.

We will move forward with a resolution supporting the continued use of the name Lake Ontario.

There is nothing unpatriotic about preserving our history or maintaining good relationships with our neighbors. In fact, I believe there is something deeply patriotic about people with different political beliefs putting those differences aside when the community they serve comes first.

Today was a reminder that bipartisanship is still possible. We can disagree on policy, debate our differences, and still come together when something matters to the people we represent.

Sometimes, the best way to protect our future is to honor the past that helped build it.

Lake Ontario is part of who we are, and that is worth preserving.

Behind every campaign is a team of people who make it possible. ❤️

The backbone of canvassing, connecting with constituents, and getting campaign materials where they need to go isn’t just one person, it’s the volunteers who show up, pitch in, and have your back.

I truly cannot put into words how grateful I am for everyone who has supported me throughout this campaign season.

But today, I want to give a special shout-out to this amazing lady, Carol Fitzsimmons. She has been incredibly motivating, supportive, and, most importantly, has made this campaign season FUN! Yes, you read that right, fun! 😂

Some of my favorite moments have been sitting together, organizing campaign materials for the people of District 24, talking, laughing, and sharing stories along the way. It’s those moments that remind me why I decided to do this in the first place: the people.

And Carol is just one of many who have been there for me.

A huge THANK YOU to Connie Alpeter, Jim Cannon, Debbie Chambers, Christine Weisenburger, Jordan Harcleroad, and the many, many others who have given their time, energy, encouragement, and support.

I may be the name on the ballot, but this campaign is powered by people who believe in our community.

From the bottom of my heart, thank you for having my back. ❤️

Now, let’s keep knocking on those doors, having those conversations, and fighting for the people of District 24! 💪

My bill, S.4773, has passed the Senate! This legislation would prevent outsourcing work to any third party during a hiring freeze. When outsourcing work during a hiring freeze, it could result in the permanent displacement of jobs that provide New Yorkers with the means of achieving a middle-class life. This bill preserves these economic opportunities and would allow the work to be done by the State’s unionized workforce.
