Local leadership matters more than ever.

Granby and Fraser Town Council decisions affect housing, growth, taxes and fees, public safety, local businesses, property rights, and the future of our mountain communities.

The upcoming Town Council elections are an opportunity for residents to step forward and help shape the direction of their towns.

Candidate filing forms are due August 25.

On August 19, gubernatorial candidate Victor Marx made a stop in Kremmling for a local "Whistle Stop," drawing approximately 55 attendees eager to hear his vision for Colorado. Marx laid out his plans for governing, acknowledging the reality that he may need to work alongside a Democratic-controlled House and Senate to get things done. He also addressed public safety, calling for higher expectations of judges amid what he described as a soft-on-crime approach that has left many Coloradans concerned. Throughout his remarks, Marx connected policy to everyday life for the people in the room, framing his agenda around practical outcomes rather than abstract politics.

A recurring theme of the afternoon was Colorado's affordability crisis, a topic that clearly resonated with the crowd in Kremmling. Marx spoke personally about the issue, sharing that he and his wife Eileen would love nothing more than to see their own kids and grandchildren able to return to and afford life in the state they love — a sentiment that echoed the experience of many families in Grand County. After taking a handful of questions from attendees, Marx wrapped up the stop and headed out to Glenwood Springs for the next leg of his campaign trail. Progress doesn’t happen overnight.

It takes planning. It takes responsible budgeting. It takes strong partnerships across Grand County. And it takes proven experience to move important projects from an idea to completion.

The new Granby EMS Station 1 is one example of that work already taking shape—an important investment in the emergency services and infrastructure our residents, businesses, and visitors will rely on for years to come.

I’m proud to report that this project is under budget and ahead of schedule, with completion targeted for October 2026.

That’s what responsible leadership looks like—planning carefully, respecting taxpayer dollars, and working in partnership across Grand County to get important projects done.

But this is about more than one building.

It’s about preparing for Grand County’s future while continuing to deliver for the people who live, work, raise families, build businesses, and visit here today.

There is more work ahead—and that’s exactly the point.

We’ve built the foundation. We’ve strengthened partnerships across the county.

We’ve managed taxpayer dollars responsibly.

And we’ve moved important projects from plans on paper to progress on the ground.
