We had a fantastic visit from the YMCA for a school-wide presentation on Water Safety! From our youngest learners to our oldest students, everyone was captivated as they learned the golden rules of staying safe around water.

Our students practiced committing to always asking an adult before swimming, learned the importance of wearing a life jacket - how to appropriately put one on, and discovered how to safely help a friend who might be struggling.

A massive thank you to the YMCA for bringing these essential, lifesaving skills to our school! We are so proud of our smart, safety-first students.

The students in Mrs. Sessions’ first-grade class officially filled their Kelly Lane Cares Bucket! 🪣✨ These hard workers have been doing an amazing job taking care of themselves, each other, and our school.

To celebrate on this hot day, what could be more perfect than a Beach Day? ☀️🏖️

They kept the learning going by diving into a fun math craftivity called "Don't Bug Me, I'm Measuring!", had a beach blanket snack and wrapped up the day with some high-energy beach dancing movement breaks. 💃🕺 Way to go, first grade friends!

A big Thank You to Nurse Dom on "School Nurses Day". She does an amazing job caring for our students with compassion and expertise, keeping them safe and healthy every single day. A huge thank you to the GMMS Orchestra for visiting our second graders at Kelly Lane today! It was an incredible morning filled with beautiful music and inspiration. Our students were absolutely mesmerized watching the "big kids" perform. Seeing the GMMS students' hard work and dedication first hand showed our second graders exactly what’s possible when you stick with your passions!

Here at Kelly Lane Primary School we focus on creating an inclusive space for all students. We believe communication is more than spoken words, it’s connection, autonomy, and belonging. That’s why the speech team created a school bulletin board to celebrate inclusivity and honor all ways students communicate. The display highlights spoken language, AAC device programs like Proloquo2Go, communication boards, gestures, and American Sign Language. We want to reinforce that every voice matters, whether it’s spoken, signed, or selected on a screen.

By visually representing multiple modes of communication, we’re helping students, staff, and families understand that communication isn’t one-size-fits-all. It’s about access, respect, and creating a school culture where every child is seen, heard, and valued.

Students at Kelly Lane celebrated Earth Day in a variety of meaningful ways. Some classes enjoyed nature walks, while others created new items using recycled materials. Another group crafted paper Earths from recycled paper embedded with flower seeds. These creations will be planted in homes throughout Granby to help support and encourage local pollinators.

Mrs. Budlong’s class has brought creativity to life with an incredible origami art installation—an entire city built by the students themselves! Since the end of January, the class has been working together, folding, designing, and collaborating to create a vibrant miniature world. This imaginative city is full of exciting details, including a school, a firehouse complete with trucks, cars zooming through the streets, and even animals, a train, and an airplane! Every piece reflects the students’ teamwork, perseverance, and artistic flair.

It’s been amazing to watch their ideas take shape and their city grow day by day—what a fun and inspiring accomplishment!

There’s no better way to learn about physics than by jumping right in! Today, our students became part of the lab as they explored Newton’s Laws of Motion with Mad Science. They learned firsthand how forces alter an object's state of motion through some truly "mad" experiments. A massive shoutout to our PTO for sponsoring this unforgettable experience. The smiles on our students' faces said it all!

We want to extend a heartfelt thank you to Mrs. Foskitt and Mrs. Lucas for hosting our wonderful Music Informances. To celebrate Music in Our Schools Month, these sessions offered families a unique "sneak peek" into the magic happening in the music room every day. Seeing our students share their rhythm, melody, and growth with their loved ones was the perfect way to highlight the vital role music plays in our curriculum.
