Granby is looking for a resident to be a volunteer representative to the RPB. Municipalities now play a direct role in helping govern Aquarion through its Representative Policy Board (RPB). The RPB is comprised of appointees from every municipality within its service area and is responsible for approving water rates and overseeing other key aspects of the Authority’s governance. The RPB will meet monthly.

West Nile virus (WNV) infections in humans are increasing across the United States. Humans get WNV from the bite of a mosquito infected with WNV, so it is crucial to prevent mosquito bites. Taking a few simple precautions can help protect yourself and your family!

Mosquito Bite Prevention:
-Minimize time outdoors at dawn and dusk when mosquitos are most active
-Use an insect repellent registered with the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)
-Wear loose fitting long sleeves, pants, socks, and shoes when spending time outdoors so it is harder for mosquitos to bite your skin
-Be sure door and window screens and air conditioning
units are tight-fitted and in good repair to keep
mosquitos outdoors

Early Voting for the Democratic Primary Begins on Monday
There is a Democratic primary at Granby Town Hall on Tuesday August 11, with Early Voting (also at Town Hall) from Monday, August 3 to Sunday, August 9. The primary includes candidates vying for Governor and for the 1st U.S. Congressional district. Early voting is from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM, and there are extended hours on August 4 and August 6 from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM.

The Governor race includes the party endorsed incumbent Ned Lamont, with State Representative Josh Elliot also on the ballot. The Congressional race has four candidates - endorsed candidate and former Hartford Mayor Luke Bronin, Hartford Board of Education member Ruth Fortune, State Representative Jullian Gilchrest, and incumbent Congressman John Larson.

Only registered Democrats can vote in the primary. There will not be a Republican primary in Granby this year.

The deadline to change party affiliation to vote in the August primary has passed. However, new voters and unaffiliated voters can change their registration in person until noon on August 10 to be eligible.

🚨 SAVE A LIFE TOUR IS COMING TO GRANBY FOR THE FOURTH YEAR! 🚨

The Save A Life Tour is returning to Granby, bringing an eye-opening, hands-on distracted driving program designed to educate and empower young drivers.

Using immersive virtual reality and driving simulation technology, participants will experience firsthand the dangers of distracted driving in a safe, controlled environment while learning how one decision behind the wheel can change lives forever.

📍 Lost Acres Fire Department, 206 Salmon Brook St., Granby, CT

This life-saving and comprehensive event is open to any and all incoming 9th–12th graders, and each session runs approximately 40 minutes.

The Save A Life Tour's message is simple:

"The Choice is Yours... Stop the Texts. Stop the Wrecks."

This interactive program gives students the opportunity to experience realistic driving scenarios, understand the consequences of distracted driving, and make safer choices before they get behind the wheel.

This opportunity will be operating during our First Responder Camp but is open to the public. Please stop in August 10th, 11th, or 12th between 9am and 3pm to experience this. When you arrive, please find an on site officer who will direct you to the Save a Life Tour Experience.

Together, we can work to make our roads safer for everyone. 🚔🚒🚑

Parking Information:
-Parking before the parade is open at the Granby HS/MS complex (enter from RT 189, park by athletic fields) and the Town Hall complex, with overflow parking in the Church lot at 242 Salmon Brook Street.
-Following the parade, there will be a shuttle running from Salmon Brook Park, stopping at the Church, the Town Hall complex, and the HS/MS complex.
-Additional handicap accessible parking spots have been allocated in Salmon Brook Park for before the parade + the picnic afterward.
