Additionally, the Granby Police Department acts as the recognized First Responder to requests for emergency medical assistance within the Town of Granby, pending the arrival of the appropriate emergency medical service provider. All officers are at least certified by the State of Connecticut as Emergency Medical Responders and many have advanced certification as Emergency Medical Technicians. The Granby Police Department operates a multi-town Public Safety Answering Point providing professional police, fire, and emergency medical service (EMS) dispatch services for the towns of Granby (police, fire, and EMS), East Granby (fire and EMS), and Hartland (EMS). The center is staffed around the clock by professional, certified Emergency Telecommunicators. In addition to answering and dispatching emergency calls, the dispatchers also handle routine calls for service and walk in traffic. The Police Department is staffed by:

16 sworn officers - Chief, Captain, 4 Sergeants, 9 Patrol Officers, and 1 Detective.
8 civilian dispatchers - 4 part time and 4 full time.
2 support staff - records clerk and administrative assistant. The Granby Police Department participates with the towns of Avon, Bloomfield, Canton, Farmington, Simsbury, Suffield, Windsor, and Windsor Locks in the North Central Municipal Emergency Services Team (NCMEST) and he North Central Municipal Accident Reconstruction Squad (NCMARS). This coalition of police agencies provides the opportunity for Granby officers to expand their interests into such specialized areas of law enforcement as: accident investigation and reconstruction, crisis/hostage negotiations and SWAT. As a result of these specialties, a cadre of trained personnel are available as needed to assist or supplement the Town of Granby during critical incidents.

๐ŸพA Huge Thank You from the Granby Police Department & Granby Animal Control! ๐Ÿพ

Todayโ€™s Rabies Clinic was a tremendous success, and we are so grateful to everyone who came out to help protect our four-legged Granby residents! The parking lot was packed!

A special thank you to Dr. Creden and Dawn from Salmon Brook Veterinary Hospital for donating their time, expertise, and care to provide rabies vaccinations for so many animals in our community as well as surrounding communities. Your continued support means so much to both our residents and their pets. ๐Ÿถ๐Ÿฑ

We also have to give a shoutout to our very own Granby Hot Dog Master...aka the Town Manager, Mike Walsh... for keeping everyone fueled with hot dogs fresh off the grill! ๐ŸŒญ

As April comes to a close, you may have noticed our officers wearing Autism Awareness patches on their uniforms.

These patches represent our commitment to understanding, inclusion, and support for individuals on the autism spectrum and their families. Autism Awareness Month is a time to recognize the unique strengths and challenges faced by those in the autism community, and to promote compassion, patience, and education throughout our town.

For us, these patches are more than just a symbol, they serve as a reminder of the importance of building trust, improving communication, and ensuring that every member of our community feels safe, respected, and understood.

We are proud to stand with the autism community, not just in April, but every day.
