☀️🌡️ Connecticut's Extreme Hot Weather Protocol is in effect from 10:00 a.m. today through 6:00 p.m. Sunday, June 14 as dangerously hot and humid conditions are expected across the state. Heat index values may reach 100°F or higher.
Take steps to protect yourself and those most vulnerable to heat-related illness, including older adults, young children, people with chronic health conditions, outdoor workers, and pets.
💧 Drink plenty of water—even before you feel thirsty.
🏠 Spend as much time as possible in air-conditioned spaces.
🌳 Limit outdoor activities and take frequent breaks in the shade.
👕 Wear lightweight, light-colored clothing.
🚿 Take cool showers or baths.
👥 Check on family, friends, and neighbors, especially those at higher risk.
🐾 Make sure pets have access to fresh water and shade, and never leave them in a parked vehicle.
Need a place to cool off? Cooling centers are open across Connecticut. Find the nearest location at 211ct.org or call 2-1-1.
Stay cool, stay hydrated, and stay safe.
