Indian Peaks Charter School Belief Statements:
The underlying philosophy of Indian Peaks Charter School can best be described by the following belief statements:

1. In order to preserve the vision of the school, all decisions made at IPCS are driven by and are in support of the school’s mission statement.

2. A solid foundation of knowledge and skill mastery will build academic success, create

free thought, and positive self-esteem for all students.

3. Classroom instruction must be engaging, authentic, varied (diverse), interdisciplinary, promote analytical thinking and utilize best practice in order to meet the individual learning styles of each child.

4. Family involvement strongly enhances the quality of a child’s education.

5. Active parent participation, strong leadership, and positive communication between parents, teachers, and school leaders are essential to the success of both IPCS students and the school as a whole.

6. All adults involved in the IPCS program are expected to set a positive example to students by demonstrating respect, passion for learning, and virtuous character.

7. Knowledge of how to access and operate modern technology is critical to a student’s success in school and in society.

8. The Governing Board, Director, and Business Manager (?) must be fiscally responsible and financially prudent.

9. All parents and employees must believe in and support the IPCS mission for the school to be successful.

10. Working together, we (i.e., parents, teachers, students, community members and leaders) will achieve our goals. Academic Goals

Superior Academics/Passion for Learning

1. Academic rigor and achievement are our top priorities.
2. High academic standards are maintained with goals for continuous improvement.
3. Students are challenged at all levels.
4. Acquire a solid base of academic knowledge including Music and Art.
5. Mastery of curriculum and standardized tests, among other assessments, shall be used to measure achievement and to assist in maintaining high academic standards.
6. Develop a positive attitude toward learning and the desire and ability to become a lifelong intentional learner.
7. Achieve excellence in the development of unique talents and abilities to the extent of individual capacity.
8. Experience a variety of appropriate learning environments which encourage curiosity, creativity, and a desire to explore.
9. Develop analytical and critical thinking skills. Exemplary and Aware Citizens/Virtuous Character

1. Develop respect for self and others.
2. Develop, in cooperation with the home and community, a personal value system including a sense of virtue, integrity, and a civil moral code leading to a mature citizenship.
3. Live with a code of conduct that aids in the development of personal responsibility and an understanding of consequences for personal behavior.
4. Develop knowledge and an understanding of their environment (as well as ) a recognition of their responsibility to care for themselves and the world around them.
