Grand Island Utilities Department 100 East First Street Grand Island, NE 68801 (308) 385-5444 Ext. 280 The Engineering Division is responsible for services to all Utility Divisions.

The Grand Island Utilities Department generates and distributes electricity and water to homes, businesses, and industries in and near Grand Island Nebraska. The Utilities Department is owned by the customers it serves and is governed by the Grand Island City Council as a financially self-supporting entity of the City of Grand Island. No taxes are used for the operation of the Utilities Department

as all departmental operations are financed through electric and water revenue. To meet the needs of the citizens of Grand Island, the Utilities Department is organized into four (4) major divisions: Engineering, Generation, Electrical Distribution, and Water. Within the Electrical Distribution Division there are two (2) subdivisions: Overhead and Underground construction.

Congratulations to our Lineworkers Rodeo competitors. Triston White received 1st place in the Apprentice Obstacle Course, 2nd place in the Mutual Aide Fuse Change Out and 2nd place Apprentice Overall. Garrett Porter received 2nd place in the Apprentice Hurt Man Rescue. Great job gentlemen!!

🐑 We've hired a new grounds crew...and they're working for grass.

This summer, we're partnering with a local shepherd to let sheep do the mowing at the City's solar farm! ☀️

These four-legged landscapers are naturally keeping the grass and weeds under control beneath the solar panels. We'd say they're the G.O.A.T. at the job... but they're sheep. OK...no more puns.
