ATTENTION ADVISORY!!!:

We are aware that the sand is really soft on the beach where the golf cart and side-by-side travel lanes are located. The beach ordinance specifically states that drivers shall drive parallel to the levee NORTH of the life ring pilings and SOUTH of the levee. That's the proper and legal lane of travel for side-by-sides and golf carts. South of the life ring pilings is where pedestrians are stationed with their personal belongings, pets, and CHILDREN. If the sand is too soft for your cart, then please plan accordingly. If you are caught traveling east and west, south of the life ring pilings, you will be susceptible to receiving a citation. Thanks.

I am proud and humbled to have attended the swearing-in ceremony of Frank Besson Jr. as the 28th Superintendent of the Louisiana State Police. Colonel Besson started his Law Enforcement career at the Grand Isle Police Department. I am honored to have been there to congratulate him on all of his accomplishments.

I would like to thank and recognize Noah Bailey, who is a recipient of the Grand Isle Police Department Life Saving Award, for his selfless act of service to the community by putting himself in danger to save an individual from drowning. Thank you, Noah!

TROOP C TRAFFIC ADVISORY
July 17, 2026
Lafourche Parish – Louisiana State Police and other first responders are on the scene at Louisiana Highway 308, just north of the Belle Vue Bridge in Lockport, due to structural issues with a small bridge in that location. All through traffic must detour to LA Highway 1.
Please adjust your travel plans and expect delays. The duration of the closure is unknown at this time.

We know! For those planning on attending this event, just a friendly reminder, any golf carts or side-by-sides out 30 minutes after dark will be cited, NO EXCEPTIONS. Keep in mind that citations written for violations on the beach are misdemeanor crimes, and you will be issued a summons to appear in court. Violations for beach ordinances usually run up to $500 in fines. Please clean up your mess and refrain from bringing glass bottles on the beach. That being said, have fun, keep the party on the beach, and our officers will be close and monitoring.

PS: It is illegal for those under the age of 21 (unless accompanied by a parent or guardian) to possess alcohol. It is also illegal for anyone under the age of 17 (unless accompanied by a parent or legal guardian) to be out past curfew (11 pm).

The Town of Grand Isle would like to recognize and thank Jordan Matthew for his quick thinking and heroic actions during a serious incident on Elmer’s Island earlier this month.
Jordan, an employee of Reliant Shuttle, LLC, learned that three individuals had become caught in strong currents after entering the water. A young boy entered the water first, followed by two women who attempted to help him. Without hesitation, Jordan entered the water and reached the boy first, bringing him safely back to shore. He then helped guide the first woman to safety before returning to rescue the second woman, whom he physically pulled from the current and back to shore.
Because of Jordan’s courage, selflessness, and decisive actions, all three individuals were safely rescued before emergency responders arrived.
⚠️Please use caution when entering the water, pay attention to conditions, and never underestimate the power of coastal currents.
Jordan’s willingness to act in a critical moment made all the difference. On behalf of the Town of Grand Isle, thank you, Jordan, for your bravery and for exemplifying the very best of our community. 💚
