A press release was conducted by the Jefferson Parish Sheriff, Joe Lopinto, and discussed details about the fatal shooting that occurred in Grand Isle on the night of April 21st. According to Sheriff Lopinto, two individuals identified as Drevon Mixon (the decedent) and Wallace Ledet Jr. were planning to commit an armed robbery on three individuals (they will remain unnamed for now due to charges possibly being pursued) who were inside a vehicle planning to buy narcotics from Ledet and Mixon.
It was at this point Mixon pulled a gun on the individuals inside the vehicle in the attempt to rob them. An individual inside the vehicle, who also had a weapon, opened fire and fatally struck Mixon. The vehicle drove off, stopped a couple of blocks away from the scene, and called the police. Sheriff Lopinto advised that the shooting was justified, however, other charges may be pursued for the individuals inside the vehicle related to the possession of narcotics.
An arrest warrant was issued for Wallace Ledet Jr. for the following:

1 Count(s) of 14:26/64--Conspiracy to commit Armed Robbery--(Felony)
1 Count(s) of 14:27/64--Attempt Armed Robbery--(Felony)
On Sunday, April 26th, at approximately 1600 hours, Ledet was arrested and taken into custody without incident by the Grand Isle Police Department. Ledet was then transported to the Jefferson Parish Correctional Center for booking and further procedure. This incident is still under investigation and further charges may be pursued and/or arrest warrants issued.
Chief Christopher Hernandez would like to inform the public that the Grand Isle Police Department will continue to assist and support Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office until this investigation and case is closed. Chief Hernandez would like to also remind the public that details about this case will only be released as JPSO releases it or permission is given for GIPD to release information. Please advise any other sources of information about this case may be false and at best rumor. Updates will be provided as the investigation and/or arrests continue.
