Our 2026 event night is set for October 10th, 2026 — 4:30pm to 10pm, and we have some important updates for everyone planning to attend. All proceeds and donated food go directly to Champlain Islands Food Shelf to support families in need. Please bring 12 non‑perishable items per person (no expired food) or $20 per person for entry.

🌙 Event Schedule
🦇Main Event: 6:30pm – 10pm (PG‑13)
🦇Kids Walk: 4:30pm – 6pm (Non‑Scary) This is Free (You can donate if you Like)

🚍 Parking & Shuttle Info
This year, all guest parking will be at the Grand Isle School only.
We will be running two buses from the school to the Haunted Trail throughout the night.
Because parking is limited, we strongly encourage everyone to carpool to help reduce congestion and keep things moving smoothly.

🚫 Road Closure
The main road to the Emmons Island Haunted Trail will be closed to all guest traffic after 5pm.
Only buses and emergency vehicles will be allowed beyond that point.
There will be no onsite parking after 5pm (except for volunteers).
Please do not park on Route 2.

🌙 Appointment‑Only Preview Week
To help reduce crowding on event night, the trail will be open the week before October 10th for appointment‑only visits.
If you’d like a quieter, early walkthrough — or just want to avoid the big crowds — we hope you’ll take advantage of these appointment slots.🕸️ Let’s Make 2026 Amazing

“The Lantern Keeper of Emmons Island Haunted Trail”
Every Halloween, the fog rolls in thick over Emmons Island Haunted Trail, curling around the trees like ghostly fingers. Locals know to stay off the trail after dark—but every year, someone forgets.
It’s said the Lantern Keeper still walks the path, searching for the last soul who broke the pact. Long ago, when the Island was first settled, a caretaker lit lanterns along the trail to guide travelers safely through the woods. But one Halloween night, a group of pranksters stole the lanterns and vanished into the fog. The caretaker followed, and was never seen again.
Now, if you walk the trail after sunset, you might hear the crunch of leaves behind you… even if you’re alone. You might see a flickering light in the distance—too dim to be helpful, too steady to be natural. And if you follow it, the fog thickens, the trees close in, and the trail disappears.
Some say the Lantern Keeper is still trying to finish his route. Others say he’s looking for someone to replace him.
So if you visit the Emmons Island Haunted Trail, stay close to the group. Don’t wander. And whatever you do… don’t pick up the lantern

🎃👻 Greetings, creatures of Facebook and Internet Land…
The Emmons Island Haunted Trail is awakening once again, and we’re gearing up for a brand‑new season of scares! We’ll only be open one night this year — October 10th, 2026 — and we need the community’s help to make the magic happen.

As our trail has grown monstrously popular (nearly 3,000 brave visitors in just six hours!), onsite parking has become extremely limited. So, like past years, we’ll be running shuttle buses from remote parking locations. It’s worked great before — but this year, we’re searching for a possible third parking site to keep the crowds flowing smoothly.

One idea we’re exploring is Donaldson Park. The bus could stop at the sign on Donaldson Road, then loop around to State Park Road to reach the trail. The challenge is that the park technically closes at dusk and has limited lighting, so we’re not sure if it’s a viable option.

We really want to make this year work without switching to a timed‑ticket system. If we can’t secure additional parking, we’d be forced to limit attendance to around 800 people, and that’s not the experience we want for our community.

So we’re reaching out to all you ghouls and ghosts:
If anyone knows of a location willing to host remote parking, we’ll fully staff it for safety and handle cleanup afterward. Your help could keep the Haunted Trail running at full frightful glory!
