Earlier this month Grand Isle Rescue was dispatched into Isle la Motte for a mutual aid request.
This was around 10:30 in the evening, and responded with a crew of four, for an allergic reaction.
Isle la Motte is roughly 30 minutes from our station. So while en route to the patient, one of our providers called them to get updated on their condition.
This was a critical step in our response to determine how severe the reaction was, and if we need additional resources.
A severe reaction can cause: throat swelling, difficulty breathing, vomiting, and a dangerous drop in blood pressure.
The patient was transported to North West Medical in Saint Albans due to the proximity to Isle la Motte.
We returned to service around 1am.
