At 70, Richard is managing high blood pressure, high cholesterol, diabetes, and celiac disease, all while living on a fixed income. Accessing nutritious food is more than just about hunger for Richard. It's about his health. 💚

Through our Food for Health program, Richard was able to purchase fresh, frozen, and canned produce specifically tailored to support his medical needs.

"I love fresh produce, but I pick up frozen too, so nothing goes bad."

After the 12-week program was completed, Richard began supplementing his food at our Orchard Mesa Mobile Food Pantry, where he looks out for his favorite foods:

"Sometimes they have a big bunch of strawberries!"

Thank you to our donors, supporters, and volunteers who help make programs like Food for Health and our mobile pantries possible. Thanks to your support, neighbors like Richard have access to the food they need to thrive. 🫶

Federal legislation signed in 2025 expanded SNAP work requirements for most adults and introduced new eligibility rules. Additionally, Medicaid eligibility changes are also scheduled to take effect beginning this December.

These changes make it harder for people who often struggle to find and maintain employment to get food support.

Often, employment circumstances do not change that quickly. People are better positioned to seek and obtain employment when they can focus and perform strongly, as they are well nourished.

Gumbiner Custom Knives partnered with Parthenay Knives to auction off a one-of-a-kind custom knife, and every dollar raised went directly toward nourishing our neighbors! 🙌

Thanks to their incredible generosity and everyone who participated in the auction, we were able to provide the equivalent of over 6,000 nutritious meals to neighbors facing hunger on the Western Slope.

Nearly 58,000 Western Slope residents are food insecure, and hunger is at its highest level in 12 years. 💚

As our CEO, Erin Pulling, puts it: "These aren't just statistics. These are our neighbors."
