These are the best days. Full and fast and pure childhood. The kind of days where there is no way to capture all of it, but we managed to hold onto a few moments anyway.

Teacher Appreciation Week. Talent Show. Family Picnic. Field Day. Fire trucks. Seniors returning to walk our halls one more time. Fifth graders getting ready to spread their wings and leave us.

So much joy, celebration, and love packed into these final weeks. There is truly no place like New Emerson. 💙

What a day at New Emerson 💫

You could feel it everywhere on Tuesday. Community. Perseverance. Courage. Joy.

Our 3rd–5th grade scientists stepped up and truly owned their learning, presenting their projects with courage and expertise. Huge gratitude to our community members, D51 leaders, and families who gave their time to listen, ask questions, and celebrate our learners.

And then… STEAM LEAD Night took off 🚀Our staff created hands-on experiences inspired by every letter of STEAM, and families jumped right in. Designing, building, experimenting, creating, and laughing together.

We wrapped it all up with pizza, play, and that feeling you get when something really special has happened.

Full hearts. Full minds. Grateful for this community.

What a week at New Emerson!

✨ Celebrated our amazing secretary, Shelly
🏃🏼‍♀️ Our Girls on the run hosted a bakesale and ran their practice Color 5K run
🏫 Kicked off our transition from the Columbus building to our new home with families, staff, and students, past and present
🎶 Heard our brand new school song, written and performed by talented New Emerson parents Elise and Faith Eliza
📦 Welcomed families and friends who jumped in to help us start packing up an entire school (wow, thank you!)
🍽️ Felt the love with a delicious lunch from our wonderful new neighbors at the Early Childhood Education Center

Our hearts are full and this community continues to amaze us.

Join us as we honor the history of New Emerson and celebrate what’s to come! 💙

🎤 Ceremony at 5:30 PM (in the field)

- Bring a chair and gather with us for a special moment as we hear from students, families, and principals past and present and introduce our new school song! 🎶
- 🍽️ Come hungry! Dinner will be available for purchase from El Rey Food Truck.
-🍦 Don’t forget cash to support our 5th graders—they’ll be selling ice cream on the blacktop to raise funds for their End-of-Elementary Field Trip!

Last night was one of our most joyful and special New Emerson traditions - The Family Dance!

Our Compass Crew brought their vision to life with this year’s theme, Wonders of the World. They transformed the gym into the Great Barrier Reef, Mt. Everest, Victoria Falls, and the Taj Mahal. It was truly something to see!

A huge shoutout to our incredible Compass Crew advisor, Ms. Shannon P., for helping make the magic happen.

Families danced, played, and connected on a beautiful spring evening, and the joy in the room said it all.

Last night our school was full of adventure, imagination, and books! 📚✨

We celebrated our annual I Love to Read Night, highlighting the L in STEAM LEAD—Literacy. This year’s theme, “Reading Is an Adventure,” had students picking up their passports and setting off on a literary journey around the building.

Along the way they:
📖 Played book-themed trivia
🤔 Guessed book titles from emojis
🎨 Created bookmarks
🎭 Made character puppets
📚 Chose free books to take home and keep

And of course, the grand finale—everyone’s favorite—our book-themed smorgasbord! Families enjoyed treats inspired by beloved stories like Dragons Love Tacos 🌮, Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs, Piggy and Gerald’s famous “slop 🐷,” and even Hogwarts punch 🧙‍♂️.

It was a joyful night of literacy, creativity, and community at this special place.

A huge thank you to Ms. Molly, Ms. Valerie, and Ms. Shannon P. for organizing such a magical evening, and to all of our volunteers and families who donated the incredible food. We appreciate you! ❤️

The final New Emerson Senior Walk in the Columbus building will be:
