Our no-cost services, which include assessments, workshops, recruitment assistance, business services and much more, continue to propel our community into the future with education, training and resources invaluable in making our community prospero

Mesa County Workforce Center WIOA Title I and III programs are funded through a combination of federal funds from the U.S. Department of Labor and non-federal funds that includes state sources. The approximate budget of $3.2 million is made up of 86% federal and 14% non-federal sources.

September is Workforce Development Month, and the Mesa County Workforce Center is celebrating with a series of free, in-person workshops and events designed to help job seekers sharpen their skills, prepare for employment and connect with local employers, while helping businesses strengthen their workforce.

Whether you are getting ready for the job fair, updating your resume, preparing for an interview or exploring new approaches to hiring and developing talent, these events offer practical tools, resources and opportunities to make meaningful connections.

Job Fair Game Plan | 10-11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 3
Learn how to prepare for and make the most of a job fair, including tips for connecting with employers and making a strong impression.

Resume Basics | 10-11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 10
Learn the fundamentals of creating a resume that highlights your skills, experience and qualifications.

Mesa County Job Fair | 2-5 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 16
The Mesa County Workforce Center is participating in the Statewide Workforce Colorado Career Fair. Join us in person to explore new opportunities, connect with local employers and meet talented job seekers looking for the next step in their career. The first 15 minutes of the event is reserved for veterans and eligible spouses. Employers and job seekers can learn more at mesacounty.us/jobfair

The Mesa County Workforce Development Board is pleased to invite local business leaders and employers to a Skills-First Talent Development Training on Monday, Sept. 21, 2026.

Finding and retaining the right talent continues to be one of the biggest challenges facing employers. This interactive workshop will help local businesses explore a skills-first approach to recruiting, hiring and retaining employees by focusing on the skills and competencies needed for success. Participants will learn practical strategies they can apply within their organizations, including:

Skills Mapping - Identify the skills and proficiency levels employees need to succeed in priority roles.

Writing Skills-First Job Descriptions - Learn how to create job descriptions that focus on the skills needed for success, helping employers attract a broader and more qualified pool of candidates.

Skills-First Screening and Interviewing - Learn how to evaluate candidates based on their skills, work examples and competencies.

The workshop is designed for employers and organizational leaders who want to strengthen their approach to workforce development and build a talent strategy that focuses on what candidates can do. Breakfast, snacks and a workbook are included with registration.

Time: 8 a.m. to 12 p.m.
Date: Monday, Sept. 21, 2026
