Thank you to everyone who voted for Jennies Playhouse in Best of the West!
Being recognized in the Kids Recreation Activity & Club category means more to me than I can really put into words.
Jennies is my heart. It’s my dream. It’s the place I have poured more hours, energy, love, and pieces of myself into than I could ever count. And being recognized makes me proud because it tells me that people see Jennies for what it was always meant to be.
A place for children to escape into their imaginations.
We live in a world where kids are surrounded by screens, schedules, technology and constant stimulation. Jennies was created to give them something incredibly simple, but incredibly important:
The freedom to just PLAY.
When a child walks into the ice cream shop with Mom and suddenly becomes the waitress, so much more is happening than “pretend.”
They ask their customer for an order. They listen and remember: mint chocolate chip on a vanilla cone. They look at all the choices in front of them, figure out which scoop is mint chocolate chip, find the right cone, put it together and proudly hand it to their customer.
They imagined. They communicated. They remembered. They problem-solved. They accomplished something.
Or maybe a group of kids is zooming around the roads because someone has decided there’s a robber loose in Jennies who stole groceries from the grocery store. 😂 Suddenly there are police officers chasing a suspect, witnesses telling their stories and an entire adventure unfolding that didn’t exist five minutes earlier.
Maybe today they’re a doctor. A construction worker. A mechanic. A parent taking care of a baby. A chef making dinner. A mail carrier going door to door.
That’s the magic of imagination.
And that is the reason for Jennies.
Children are our future leaders, creators, problem-solvers and dreamers. Imagination isn’t something that only matters during childhood. It’s the beginning of creativity. It’s how we picture something that doesn’t exist yet. It’s how we explore possibilities, solve problems, create ideas and dream about what could be.
Before something can be created, someone has to imagine it first.
That’s what I want every child who walks through the doors of Jennies to have the freedom to do.
Imagine. Explore. Create. Play.
Because if we can teach children that their imaginations have power — that they can dream up a story, an idea, a solution, or an entire world — maybe they’ll carry a little bit of that belief with them as they grow.
As long as there is imagination, anything is possible. ❤️
I am incredibly proud of our Best of the West Bronze award. 🥉
Not simply because Jennies placed in Best of the West, but because it means the community sees something that started as an idea in my own imagination and understands what I hoped it could become.
To every person who voted, every family who has walked through our doors, every child who has turned Jennies into their own little world for a few hours, and everyone who has supported this dream:
