Grand Lake Stream, Maine

Grand Lake Stream, Maine Our mission is to create a neutral format to be utilized to gain public awareness with the common goa

“We have always made our living from the forests, lakes and streams that surround our village. People return to Grand Lake Stream year after year because of our unspoiled lakes, our famous landlocked salmon and bass fishing, the wildlife in our forests, and the friendships they make in our community. This project is one of the greatest things that’s ever happened to Grand Lake Stream.” – Louis Cat

aldo, First Selectman, Grand Lake Stream

Grand Lake Stream is proudly associated with the DLLT. The following is from their website, but while it is addressing a larger area than GLS, it best describes who we (grandlakestream, maine) are:

"The Downeast Lakes region is the inland portion of the eastern corner of Maine. Our fisheries, including native landlocked salmon and brook trout, as well as smallmouth bass, are world-renowned. The area is home to a diverse array of wildlife, including moose, white-tailed deer, black bears, bobcats, and at least 180 species of birds. The economy is highly dependent upon natural resources, which provide livelihoods for local craftsmen, guides, sporting camp owners and employees, and forest industry workers. The village of Grand Lake Stream is in the heart of the region, and has long been a destination for outdoor recreation."

Grand Lake Stream is famous for fly fishing but a hidden gem for other travelers seeking a break from their busy day to day.

The Grand Lake Stream Firemen’s Association will be having a “Push-In” ceremony on November 16, 2025 from 12:00 till 2:00 pm. The Association is inviting the community to come and see the new to us fire truck, have some lunch and participate with the push-in ceremony at 1:30 pm.

Four volunteer firefighters traveled to Leipsic, Delaware to purchase this truck, for a total of twenty-nine and a half hours of drive time. A special thank you to those volunteers that took the time to get this truck, Princeton Fire Chief, Tony Ramsdell, Danforth Captain, Patrick Allen, Grand Lake Stream Fire Chief, Curtis Allen and Grand Lake Stream Assistant Fire Chief, John F Arcaro.

A “Push-In” ceremony is a tradition where firefighters and community members push the fire engine into the station for the first time, marking the new trucks official entry into service. This ceremony is often preceded by a “Wet-Down” ceremony, where other fire company’s spray the new engine with water from their trucks, as a symbol of good luck and brotherhood.

Hot dogs and beverages will be provided by the Grand Lake Stream’s Firefighter’s Association

It has been a mess at the metal transfer trailer. Thanks to five volunteers everything got sorted and placed in the appropriate container. Now let's keep it maintained and organized. If you do not know where something should go, please ask. Only metal goods can go in the metal container. No electronics. No tires. No wood. No upholstered items. When we all mess up, it costs all of us! Thanks for keeping GLS clean!
