Exciting things are happening at the Grand Mound Fire Station!

The first dirt is officially moving, and construction is underway on our fire station addition!

This project is an investment in the future of our department and our community. The additional space will help us better serve Grand Mound for years to come by providing room for equipment, training, and the continued growth of our volunteer department.

Every bucket of dirt brings us one step closer to the finish line—and we couldn’t be more excited to share the progress with you!

What an incredible day in Grand Mound!

A huge THANK YOU to everyone who stopped in during the 6th Annual Responders Ride for lunch today! It was an honor to welcome riders from across the area and be one of the stops supporting our fellow first responders.

Thank you to the Charlotte Fire Department & Women’s Auxiliary for including Grand Mound on this year’s route, and to all the participating departments for everything you do for your communities.

We also want to thank all of our volunteers who spent the day cooking, serving, organizing, and making sure everything ran smoothly. Events like this aren’t possible without your time and dedication.

It was a beautiful day, great food, and even better company. We hope everyone had a safe ride and a fantastic time!

Clinton County Development Association Awards Grant to Grand Mound Volunteer Fire & EMS for LUCAS 3 Chest Compression Device

Grand Mound Volunteer Fire & EMS is proud to announce that it has been awarded a grant from the Clinton County Development Association (CCDA) to help purchase a new LUCAS 3 Chest Compression System. Through the CCDA grant program, 75% matching funds were awarded, making this lifesaving equipment possible for our department.

The LUCAS 3 is an automated mechanical chest compression device used during cardiac arrest emergencies. It delivers consistent, high-quality chest compressions that meet current resuscitation guidelines, allowing emergency responders to focus on other critical, lifesaving interventions such as airway management, medication administration, cardiac rhythm analysis, defibrillation, and patient preparation.

For a non-transport Basic Life Support (BLS) service like Grand Mound Volunteer Fire & EMS, the LUCAS 3 is especially valuable. Because our volunteers stabilize patients until an ambulance arrives, the device provides uninterrupted, effective CPR throughout the resuscitation, helping reduce responder fatigue and improving the quality and consistency of compressions during prolonged cardiac arrest incidents.

“This grant represents a significant investment in the health and safety of our community,” said Ashton Schulz, Service Director. “We are incredibly grateful to the Clinton County Development Association for recognizing the importance of this equipment and helping make it a reality. The LUCAS 3 will enhance our ability to provide high-quality emergency care when every second counts.”

Grand Mound Volunteer Fire & EMS extends its sincere appreciation to the Clinton County Development Association for its continued commitment to supporting emergency services and improving the quality of life throughout Clinton County. This investment will directly benefit residents and visitors by ensuring our responders have access to advanced lifesaving technology during one of the most critical medical emergencies.
