GP United wants to THANK YOU to every person for their support publicly and privately for our movement. It takes FOUR votes to change direction and now we have at least 2 votes. We won the first battle for our community values, but it continues next year!

We are beginning our search for quality individuals to run for school board next year against both incumbents. If you are interested, please let us know.

Our PAC is not partisan we will support Democrats or Republicans as long as you are willing to publicly support the issues that Grand Prairie Citizens United holds sacred.

Election Day is Tomorrow. If you haven't voted, please do so. We have a real chance at finally sending the GP Good Ole Boys a wake up message! Bring a friend, talk to a neighbor. Remember GP politics is about 3 things:

1. POWER
2. MONEY
3. USING POWER TO MAKE MONEY

You want to know who to believe? Look at which candidates have the power, money and which candidates are defending actions where money is being made.

The candidates for open, honest government don't have power or money, just the TRUTH on their sides.

ISSUES #4 and #5

GPISD claims in their political response that there are no consultants who are either a personal friend of Dr. Susan Hull and that these friendships do not represent a Conflict of Interest.


OUR RESPONSE:

The district is taking a legalistic view of the term "Conflict of Interest". We use and mean it in a much broader sense.

Do you think that it represents a conflict of interest if we were to hire a paid consultant that is a former employee of Dr. Susan Hull and there individuals who have publicly stated a friendship exists between this consultants husband and our Superintendent?

We believe that is a conflict of interest even if the State does not require a form to be completed.

Here are the facts, you be the judge.

While Dr. Susan Hull was Superintendent of WISD she had two employees that were husband and wife. The wife's name is Nugget Cunningham.

She is now a educational consultant and here is her website:

We have a contract with Nugget Cunningham to provide educational consulting service to GPISD. In December of this past year we wrote her a check for $10,000!

Check out this article discuss Nugget Cunningham in WISD. She was an employee of Dr. Susan Hull's and they worked together. Her employment was terminated by WISD officials.

Nugget Cunningham was an Assistant Superintendent of Elementary Instruction and the article below details how she left WISD.

So we now have proof that Nugget Cunningham is a former employee who worked closely with Dr. Susan Hull and now she is a paid consultant for our kids.

There is more. Shortly after Dr. Susan Hull joined GPISD Dr. Nugget Cunningham's husband was let go by White Settlement ISD. According to Angela Luckey, Dr. Susan Hull reached out the the NAACP and asked the GP NAACP to inquire about the termination of Mrs. Cunningham's husband.

GP UNITED has obtained copies of these emails as proof.

So why would a Superintendent ask for the GP NAACP to get involved with a termination dispute way over in White Settlement?

The answer is clear to us. Dr. Susan Hull has a personal friendship with the Cunningham's and she did not like how they were being treated so she tried to help.

Now Nugget Cunningham is being paid by the tax payers of GPISD.

So you be the judge. Do we have a personal friend of Dr. Susan Hull's on the payroll as a "educational consultant". Based upon the evidence GP UNITED believes we do.

It this "completely false" as the GPISD political propaganda claims?

Every claim GP UNITED makes is backed up with evidence. This is not mere rhetoric or speculation.

We base our political arguments on evidence, facts and nothing else.

Dr. Susan Hull and the GPISD School Board want GP citizens to believe this is a big conspiracy driven by a "disgruntled" employee.

Again we trust your judgement. Become an educated voter and then ask yourself. Who do you believe based upon the evidence?

Dear Citizens of Grand Prairie,

GP United is committed to spreading FACTS about this administration. Dr. Susan Hull has decided to falsely accuse our PAC of spreading lies. You be the judge.

ISSUE #3

The district claims that the hiring of trustee employees were not a crime and no investigation occurred.

There is an old saying that goes like this. We are all entitled to our own opinions, but not our own set of facts!

So here are the FACTS:

1. A preliminary investigation was conducted by the GP Police Department and the GP Police Department felt there was a violation of the law that had occurred.

2. The investigation was forwarded to the District Attorney to complete because the GP Police Chief felt a conflict of interest existed due to the fact that GP police officers are partially paid by district funds when they are working on campuses as "resource officers". Had this objection by the Police Chief not been raised the GP Police Department had already committed and began the initial stages of an investigation because the officers who took the case felt there could be a violation of the law!

3. This District Attorney did NOT state a crime had not been committed. The refused to prosecute because the law cited was vague on whether a criminal offense can apply to the Superintendent. A violation of State law which is called a "crime" was committed. THAT IS A FACT that cannot be disputed.

So what did the GPISD political press release not state? ALOT!

For one, it did not state that the TEA agreed with the police department that two daughters and a niece of current School Board trustee Terry Brooks were hired illegally in violation of State Law.

Second and more importantly they did not discuss why this is illegal and should have never occurred.

The reason this issue is so important is because school board trustees vote on raises and contract extensions for the Superintendent. If a Superintendent is hiring family members of the trustees, then how do you think that influences their opinion of that Superintendent?

Do you want a system in place where a future trustee could abuse the rules and say - Hey I will vote to extend your contract, if you give my wife, daughters, uncles, nieces and aunts jobs!

Once again the district is trying to distract voters from the bigger picture by manipulating the facts of the case.

You be the judge. We believe this practice of trustees kids getting jobs in the district can easily be abused and therefore should never occur. Dr. Susan Hull and the GPISD School Board look at the issue as an "oops - sorry we didn't know we were not suppose to do that"!

Does that mean no family members can ever work together in the district? Of course not. Our Ethics policy applies only to the Superintendent and the School Board Trustees. It basically states as long as you are a trustee or the Superintendent your close family member cannot be "hired" while you are in office. If your family member was employed prior to you being elected into office then that is 'ok' with GP UNITED and they are grandfathered in.

GP UNITED wants OPEN, TRANSPARENT AND FAIR GOVERNMENT!

No more Good Ole Boy FAVORS to the elite in our community.

So now that we have 3 issues discussed ask yourself these questions:

Favortism for dad? Favortism for son? Favortism for School Board Trustee?

Is this how you want your tax dollars spent?

ISSUE #2

The district takes issue with our position that we should not be engaging in "no bid" contracts with a vendor who her father - Hubert Simpson is Chairmen of the Board of Directors.

OUR RESPONSE:

Let me begin by saying that according to documents we obtained from Region VIII ESC we have not only purchased software, but "services" as well. What kind of services? To be honest, we don't fully know the scope of what has been spent with this particular vendor.

Let us deal with the issue of CSCOPE and assume that is the only item we have ever purchased from this vendor.

First fact, we purchased CSCOPE in 2008 shortly after the company was founded. We were one of the very FIRST districts in Texas to implement this software/curriculum and we had TONS of problems with the software and still do today!

For example, middle school science teachers were told that CSCOPE had great lessons that we were to begin teaching when the software was first provided to us back in 2008. When we opened up the application what did we find?

There were no lessons! NOTHING THAT WE COULD USE. Yet, we paid over a $100,000 for this module alone!

Another true story. We purchased the Social Studies module as well from this vendor. When the social studies team looked at the lesson they were suppose to teach about the original 13 US Colonies - CSCOPE provided 15 colony names!

The teachers knew then that this software was not ready for "prime time". We were the guinea pig and GPISD teachers have spent thousands of hours rewriting lessons to fix this crappy product that was sold to us.

Did we ask for a refund or even a credit? NOPE. WHY NOT?

Guess what happened to many of those lessons and fixes that GPISD teachers made? They went back to CSCOPE who took ownership of them so they could resell they product to another district in Texas!

So not only did we get a crappy product from this vendor whom her father is Chairmen of the Board, but we helped them fix the product so they could sell it to others.

This is why EVERY MAJOR PURCHASE MUST BE BID OUT!

The district fails to mention that there are many other science, math, social studies and english curriculum's that could have been competitively reviewed.

For example, SpringBoard is an online math curriculum that is replacing CSCOPE Math in some of our failing schools. Now if CSCOPE was such a great thing, why are we now taking it out and putting something else in?

The answer is simple to GP United. We purchased a poorly designed product, on a no bid basis partly because Dr. Susan Hull's dad was Chairmen of the Board!

So you be the judge - Did we do a favor for her daddy? Did we do a favor for her son?

GP UNITED wants an ethics policy in place that PREVENTS these abuses from ever happening again.

This is NOT ABOUT technical legalities of whether you are required under State law to bid a project out. This is about HONEST, OPEN AND TRANSPARENT purchasing practice where NO FAVORTISM is shown and our students receive the best resources available to them!

GP United is committed to spreading FACTS about this administration. Dr. Susan Hull has decided to falsely accuse our PAC of spreading lies. You be the judge. An item by item response is listed below:

1. The district claims GP United "implies" a construction contract was awarded because Dr. Susan Hull's son was given a low paying job only eleven days before the winning bid was announced.

OUR RESPONSE: We never made any such claim. We stated a simple fact. GP United does not know why Dr. Hull recommended this vendor, but regardless of the reason we believe this young man should not have been given the position while that vendor was competing in a "sealed bid" for millions of dollars of your tax money.

We also dispute the "facts" as they describe it. We do not know how much the young man was paid, because the GPISD School Board chose not to even investigate the situation. Additionally according to Dr. Hull's page he is STILL employed by Lincoln Builders. So it begs the questions - was this a summer job or a full time job?

Even if we accept all of the so-called "facts" to be true it is still UNETHICAL! That is why we need an ethics policy that goes beyond State Law. Yes, Dr. Hull filled out the form disclosing the conflict of interest but our position is that this should have never been required in the first place because WE SHOULD NOT ENGAGE in these type of "Good Ole Boy" tactics.

Dr. Susan Hull just doesn't get it and she never will. We want a HIGHER STANDARD of BEHAVIOR. There are hundreds of GPISD teenagers that need jobs right now. At a minimum we can all agree that her son was given special treatment because of who his mom is and the fact that our district spends millions with this company. THAT IS WRONG.

Dear Citizens of Grand Prairie,

Yesterday we reach a new low in Grand Prairie politics. Dr. Susan Hull, Sam Buchmeyer and the GPISD School Board used public resources to engage in a political campaign to attempt to undermine support for candidates opposed to the existing School Board incumbents.

It is a violation of the Texas Election Code 251.001(16), 255.003(a) and 251.001(16) for school district employees to use public funds directly or indirectly for political advertising. This includes publishing "persuasive" political pieces such as the statement issued by the district yesterday.

The Good Ole Boys of GP cannot win the arguments on the merits, so there only option left is to try and destroy the reputation of whom they believe the messenger truly is.

Ethics complaints are being filed with the State of Texas. This is also a violation of Texas Education Code and the Texas Penal Code as well.

We CANNOT TOLERATE this blatant abuse of authority! The are scared they are going to lose this election and now they are doing whatever they can to stop it from happening.

Even if that means breaking the law.
