Grand Prairie Texan - March 18, 1910
Ed MOTLEY, a very highly respected young man, 24 years of age, who lived at Reinhardt, died Friday morning at the home of his sister, Mrs. T. H. Hale, who lives half mile south of Grand Prairie, following his arrival from Little Rock, Ark., where he was taken ill one week before.
Funeral services were held from the Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Garrison, Pastor of the Reinhardt Baptist Church, assisted by Masons from the lodges at Mesquite, Garland, Dallas and Arlington, of which he was a member. Pallbearers were G. Collins, Noah Turner, John Fuller, Buck Hale, James Fugat, James Price, Emmett Florence and J. E. Payne. Interment was in Rose Hill Cemetery just north of town, Saturday afternoon.
R. T. Motley, father of deceased, is one of the pioneer citizens of the county and is well and favorably known. Ed left, besides his parents, four sisters and three brothers: Mesdames Hardin Payne and Tom Hale, Grand Prairie, Jrs. J. T. Candler and Lon Motley, Coleman, Mrs. John Zachie, John and Robt. Motley of Reinhardt.
The esteem in which he was held was attested by the numerous floral offerings, which more than covered the beautiful pearl gray broadcloth casket. So look up dear friends and fit your lives to dwell in that Heavenly Home where Ed is waiting.

Hall, founder of the Old Southland Cemetery where Edward Motley is buried. Also, Edward Motley's father was R.P. Motley, not R.T. Motley. Finally, the sister identified as Mrs. John Zachie was actually Mrs. John Zacha (Lotus Motley Zacha) also buried in Southland Cemetery.]
