Destined for Greatness Christian Academy

Destined for Greatness Christian Academy Destined for Greatness Christian Academy is an academy that was built on faith! We accept children from infancy through school age.

At Destined for Greatness Christian Academy, we offer days packed full of activities. All of our activities help the spiritual, social and academic development of children. Kids learn best when they are having fun! We tailor our lessons to each child's unique learning style. We believe that a diverse range of educational theories and philosophies offer important tools to assist us in helping your child learn and grow. By working individually with your child, we can assess his or her skills and teach accordingly. At Destined for Greatness Christian Academy, we believe that learning is enhanced when children work collaboratively with their teachers and fellow classmates.

Mission: Destined for Greatness Christian Academy is passionate about helping children and their families go beyond their potential, while instilling in them values, morals and academic excellence that will help them excel in their early years and beyond! Our promise to our parents and children is to Protect, Educate, and Nurture- from every aspect of your child's daily experience. Your child's success is our success. Our curriculum-based child care programs ensure your children are ready for kindergarten and beyond. Our professional teachers will provide them with a stable, secure, learning environment that fosters a solid, Christ-centered foundation for lifelong success.

Thank you for your patience as we try and figure out how to navigate these uncertain times of COVID-19. In planning to open, it is not because we take the risks lightly. We recognize the need for stability and learning for young children and how it affects children and families when these programs are not available. We have developed (and will continue to adapt) new policies to mitigate the risks while allowing children to learn, feel loved and have meaningful experiences and relationships.

Being able to re-open DFGCA does depend on having the enrollment to make it financially feasible. We recognize that each family must make the decision for themselves of what risks they can, or are willing, to take. You are the only one who knows your situation. I can say that I would not open up if I did not feel we had the capacity and desire to be very purposeful in keeping our children, families and staff as safe as possible and feel strongly about the benefits of a positive early learning environment.

We acknowledge that COVID is an ever evolving situation and we will prioritize safety. We may or may not have spots in the future. If you want your child to have a spot but are not comfortable starting just yet, the best suggestion is to pay tuition to hold their place.

There are no easy answers right now. But we hope to continue to be a constant in your and your family’s life. I want to assure you that I am dedicated to the safety and development of your child, as well as the safety of my staff.

Please reference the below policies and contact me with any questions at [email protected] or 214-417-5376 (text or call).

Please know that I have prayed over you and your family during our extended time away from DFGCA- you guys have been in the forefront of my mind.

New Policies

• Children will not be required to wear masks. If a parent requests their child to wear one, we will do our very best to support that, with the understanding that it cannot become a safety/sanitary issue (i.e. chewing on it, touching it often)

• We are following the COVID numbers, as well as the state level mandates, to assess our staff wearing masks. We are researching masks or mouth shields that allow teachers’
mouths to be seen because we believe that is so important to children’s social and emotional development. Staff that go between classes will also be wearing masks or mouth
shields when entering classrooms (director, floater).

• Children will not need to social distance within their class/age group, but will social distance from other age groups.

• For activities that would usually be the whole school (Chapel), they will be done with classes spaced out, possibly outdoors when that is a good option.

• All children will be temperature checked before entering the school building and throughout the day. Staff will also be temperature checked. At this time, parents will go no further than the entrance.

• As usual, our sickness policy will be strictly enforced (and expanded) to keep everyone as safe as possible.

• We will follow the guidance of the Health Department if there are potential or proven COVID cases or exposure within our school or families. If we shut down again for exposure, Tuition will still be due to hold your child’s space.

• Sanitation and hand washing will be vigilant. This is something we do well, and I anticipate being even more purposeful and ongoing with our sanitation. We generally use bleach water solutions for disinfecting and sanitation, as well as other approved products.

• These policies are subject to change as needed, and necessary, and not all inclusive.

Good evening parents! Just wanted to pop in for a moment. As many of you know, the number of cases of coronavirus is rising at an alarming rate. It is especially concerning because the number of cases in the childcare setting is rising as well. Today alone, out of 500 confirmed cases 31 were from daycares across the metroplex. There is talk of mandating all children to wear masks in daycare, and I'm unsure of how we could enforce this. As things develop, I will do my best to communicate with you. We are set to be closed for the July 4th holiday this Friday. Additionally, we will be closing for a deep clean of the facility on July 6th & July 7th. I am closely monitoring this situation and in constant prayer about how to move forward in the safest way possible, however, there is a great deal of safety concerns from our staff & and parents. I will be reaching out to you all over the weekend and appreciate your feedback and suggestions, as we navigate new normals in the midst of the pandemic. I'm thankful for your support & understanding and will talk to you all soon!

Hello DFGCA family, we're going into our 5th week of being reopened, please be mindful that Coronovirus is still out there and we are still in a pandemic. Confirmed cases have been climbing at an alarming rate daily. With this being said, we are still checking temperatures at the door and arrivals/departures are going to be continued at the point of entrance into the center. We are also still having a cleaning company spray the center twice weekly for the time being.

Additionally, out of an abundance of caution, we will be closing the center for 1 week in the month of July for a thorough and DEEP CLEANING of the facility as well as to provide a replacement of our a/c units and ventilation system. Ideally, we would like to do this with little interruption to our families, but I was unable to make this happen without closing the center. The time frame for what I am asking to be done is 3 to 5 days. I do apologize for any inconvenience. During this 1 week closure tuition will not be due. I hope to have confirmation of dates by the end of the day today and will share those with you ASAP.

Thank you again for your patience and understanding, I will be in contact soon!

Good afternoon! We are glad to be back rocking and rolling here at DFGCA! I am aware that the governor has reduced restrictions and now daycare is open to anyone who needs care. However, for the safety of our students and staff, I WILL NOT move to full capacity just yet. We will continue to operate with the highest level of caution for the protection of our well being. We are still going to be checking students in and out at the door, checking temperatures throughout the day and operating from 7AM TO 5:30PM daily for the time being. We will also continue spraying the building weekly. Additionally, our illness policy will be changing and new copies will be posted by the close of business on Wednesday. Thank you so much for your patience during these trying times!

Good afternoon DFGCA Parents! Quick updates. We plan on reopening next Monday, May 18th. As of now, we are only allowed to service children of essential workers. I will email the form to you all if this applies to you, so that we can ensure compliance with Governor Abbott's orders. With this being said, if you are not considered an essential worker, but would like to hold your child's spot, tuition will be due at a reduced rate. If you no longer need services, please let me know and we will withdraw your child effective immediately with no payment due. I will reach out to everyone by Thursday to get clarity on plans. We will not be operating at full capacity in the beginning stages, so space will be limited. Thank you for your patience during this pandemic, and you guys are continuously in my prayers! Miss you much!!!

Effective immediately, child day care operations are only able to provide child
day care services to essential service employees and to children receiving
protective day care from the Department of Family & Protective Services
On March 31st, Governor Abbott issued Executive Order GA 14 implementing
Essential Services and Activities Protocols for the entire state of Texas. The
protocols direct all Texans to minimize non-essential gatherings and in-person
contact with people who are not in the same household. The Governor’s
Executive Order renews and amends his previous order enforcing federal social
distancing guidelines for COVID-19. The protocols allow exceptions for essential
activities and services based on the Department of Homeland Security’s
guidelines on the Essential Critical Infrastructure Workforce. Examples of these
essential services include healthcare, grocery stores, banking and financial
services, utilities, child care for essential service employees, and government
Before a parent can continue using child day care services, the parent
will be required to verify his or her essential service employee status or
that DFPS has authorized the parent to receive protective day care
services. The approved essential services are specified by the US Department
of Homeland Security and the Texas Division of Emergency Management.

Hello Parents! We will continue to rock and roll here at DFGCA, just on a modified schedule. Starting tomorrow, our hours will be 7am to 5:30pm, until we're taken off this Shelter in Place. I'm hoping this only last 2 weeks, but things are changing daily. I will keep you guys updated via our page, phone calls/texts, and in the event of closure, WFAA Channel news station! I'm thankful for your patience during this time. These modified hours are being done due to a reduction in staffing, at this time to accommodate our business needs. These are trying times for us all and we are praying for healing of this land and for each and every one of you!

Hi DFGCA family! I've received many calls this evening regarding the Shelter in Place order for Dallas County, and as of now we will remain open. This order does not apply to daycare centers, however, I will make a decision regarding the coming weeks for DFGCA tomorrow around noon. Thank you all for reaching out and your incredible patience as we navigate these unchartered waters! Be blessed!

Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19)

Good afternoon parents! Just want to update you all that DFGCA is open and operating. Please see the changes that are effective immediately regarding pickup and drop off during this time:

HHSC Child Care Licensing urges all current providers to immediately implement the following guidance, which is consistent with the new requirements:
• Prohibit any person except the following from accessing an operation: operation staff; persons with legal authority to enter, including law enforcement officers, HHSC Child Care Licensing staff, and Department of Family and Protective Services staff; professionals providing services to children; children enrolled at the operation; and parents who have children enrolled and present at the operation.
• Before allowing entry into the operation, screen all of the individuals listed above, including taking the temperature of each person upon arrival at the operation each day, and deny entry to any person who meets any of the following criteria:

4. In the previous 14 days has travelled internationally to countries with widespread, sustained community transmission. For updated information on affected countries, visit:
• Require pick up and drop off of children outside of the operation, unless you determine that there is a legitimate need for the parent to enter an operation.
• Ensure that each child is provided individual meals and snacks. Do not serve family style meals.
CCL also will be issuing Frequently Asked Questions as early as possible next week. In the meantime, you can send any questions you may have to the licensing standards comments mailbox at [email protected].
Please remember to sanitize your operations, wash hands diligently, and have staff members stay home if they are sick. We also are encouraging providers to contact CCL with any questions you might have or technical assistance you might need. We recognize the extraordinary challenge this situation poses to your operations and pledge to offer our support, including any necessary regulatory flexibility, to help you protect the health and safety of the children in your care.

Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is a virus (more specifically, a coronavirus) identified as the cause of an outbreak of respiratory illness first detected in Wuhan, China.
