Sam Rayburn was established in 1972. Located in the heart of the city, we serve students from K to 4th grade. Sam Rayburn also has a day care that opened in 2013. We encourage our students to start thinking about college now and we have a school wide University House points collection! Our six universities are: SFA, TT, TAM, UNT, UT, & UTA!

You may be thinking, “Why should I fill out the Free and Reduced Price Meals application?” You could be eligible for many great benefits and resources for your child. Grand Prairie ISD would like to dispel another myth about free and reduced-price meals. Hear what GPISD students have to say about the Free and Reduced Price meal application.

🚨 As a reminder, this application must be renewed every school year, or benefits will stop after 30 days of the school year. Also, students not participating in the free and reduced-price meal program will be required to pay for meals.�
We encourage all GPISD families to submit an application even if you think you may not qualify. To apply now and/or check the status of your application, visit http://www.gpisd.org/freemeals. We are so proud of our students for showcasing their incredible musical talents and dedication. Through performances like this pre-UIL judged festival, our students continue to grow in confidence, creativity, and performance excellence while proudly representing Rayburn Elementary STEAM Academy.

A huge thank you to Coach Richard and everyone who helped make Field Day such an incredible success! From the exciting events and friendly competition to the laughter, smiles, and memories made with families, it was truly a special day for our school community.

Most of all, we are so proud of our students for the heart, joy, sportsmanship, and teamwork they showed throughout the day. Watching our students cheer each other on, encourage their classmates, and simply have FUN reminded us what makes Rayburn so special. Thank you to everyone who helped create such a positive and memorable experience for our students and families!

SEAL OF BILITERACY
Students in 5th grade were celebrated at the Seal of Biliteracy event for their accomplishments in Credit by Exam testing and for earning credits in Spanish I, Spanish II, and Spanish III. Our campus had the second highest number of elementary students recognized for this achievement.

A special thank you goes to our 5th grade teachers and all of the bilingual teachers on our campus for their dedication to developing students’ reading, writing, and speaking skills in two languages. We also want to thank our families for attending the event and for continuously supporting their children in becoming bilingual learners.

These students have an amazing future ahead of them, and we are incredibly proud of their hard work and accomplishments!

PRINCIPAL CELEBRATION - THERE WAS NO "BEAT"ING IT
A special thank you to all of the families, staff, and students for the amazing celebrations on Friday in honor of National Principal’s Day! I was absolutely blown away by all of the Michael Jackson performances! From Thriller, to Jackson 5’s ABC, to Wanna Be Startin’ Somethin’, every performance was full of energy, talent, and fun.

I have always loved Michael Jackson’s music because it just makes you want to dance, and with the movie recently being released in theaters, it was the perfect timing for such a fun celebration. What made my heart the happiest was seeing everyone singing, dancing, laughing, and simply enjoying being together.

It is truly a blessing to serve Rayburn each day and work alongside such an amazing school community to do incredible things for kids. Friday was unforgettable and definitely made me feel so “HAP-HE-HE!” Thank you for making the day so special!
