Thank you Betty Roberson for sharing this story.

💕 We have lived in Grand Prairie Texas for 29 years. And if there are any Bad Police Officers in Grand Prairie we haven't met any. My grandson is 6"8 wears a 16 shoe he will be a Senior at SGP this coming fall🎓 here he stand by the Memorial for Officers Greg Hunter. I tell him the store of how Officer Hunter held me in his arm the night his uncle was killed in a car accident. And yes we have had the talk with him many times about Obeying the laws. The Police Officer's he knows protect him as he plays at the Boy's and girl's club. They watch over him as he go to class at school. They come to his Basketball games. The pull him to the side and talk to him about choosing his friends. When they see us they tell us what a fine young man he is. They are all nationalities yes we have the talk because one day he will leave home and go to college all Police will not be like the ones. In his home town we Pray over him everyday that he makes good decision and not be fearful. I know of many young black men that have grown up and never gotten in trouble with the Law. Grand Prairie Police Officers do just what they say Protect and Serve and my family we Thank Them so Much👑🙏👑💕👮‍♂️👮‍♀️🙏 #GP Grand Prairie Police

We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of one of our Telecommunicators earlier today. She was working the 911 console when she experienced a medical emergency at 11:36 AM. Communications staff summoned Burleson Fire Department and MedStar Mobile Healthcare and they immediately began life-saving measures and transported her to the hospital. Despite the efforts of many people, she did not survive. Please join us in praying for her family and we ask you respect their privacy by not posting her name to ensure extended family is appropriately notified. We want to thank all of the medical staff and our Telecommunicators for their efforts to save her life. We escorted her to the Tarrant County Medical Examiners office this afternoon. Thank you To Fort Worth Police Department for their assistance with the escort.

BEWARE OF SCAM!

We have received a report that someone is calling Cedar Hill residents and fraudulently identifying themselves as police in an attempt to scam people into paying for subpoenas or other legal actions including court summons. In at least one instance, someone has posed as a lieutenant with our department stating the resident missed a summons and to call a phone number.

Please know that no one with Cedar Hill Police Department, nor the City Marshal, would ever call you and ask for money or credit card information. Please do not call, text or otherwise contact the person or phone number. If you feel you may have fallen victim to this scam, call 972-223-6111 to make a police report. In a show of national solidarity, the U.S. Navy Blue Angels will flyover Dallas/Fort Worth on Wednesday, May 6, starting at 11 a.m. This is part of multiple flyovers across the nation called America Strong — a collaborative salute to honor healthcare workers, first responders and other essential frontline workers as they combat COVID-19. Residents should observe the flyover from the safety of their home-quarantine and should refrain from traveling to see the flyover. Social distancing should be practiced at all times.

The U.S. Navy Blue Angels were in North Texas last October at the #Bell Fort Worth #AllianceAirShow. The renowned Air Force Thunderbirds will fly at the 30th Anniversary of the Bell Fort Worth Alliance Air Show Oct. 17-18, 2020, at Fort Worth Alliance Airport. #AmericaStrong #InThisTogether

Show your 911 Communications Specialists some love as we kick off National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week. They are the link that holds us together. Typically, they are the first point of contact, the true first responder, and the unseen hero.

Telecommunicators Week began in 1981 and quickly grew to become a national week of recognition. Congress officially designated the second week of each April as a time to remember the critical role that Communications Specialist play in keeping us all safe.
