🌟 Kindergarten Transition Day! 🌟

Our KOOTASCA Head Start preschool graduates had an unforgettable time during their Kindergarten Transition Day at Rapids West Elementary!

Many of future kindergartners rode the school bus for the very first time, explored classrooms, met kindergarten teachers, enjoyed lunch in the cafeteria, and participated in fun activities designed to provide excitement and enthusiasm for the upcoming school year!

Join us for lunch today from 11:00-1:00.

For older adults, social connection protects against cognitive decline. Engaging in conversations and activities stimulates the brain, helping maintain memory and thinking skills. KOOTASCA hosts weekly programming to help people build social connections and reduce isolation.

Monday Community Meal 4:00-6:00 at 822 NE 5th Ave.
Wednesday Lunch 11:00-1:00 at 811 NE 4th Street.

KOOTASCA’s advocacy work for older adults is funded in part by Age-Friendly Minnesota.

No one should miss their special day.

Even the simplest birthday celebration with a cake, candles, a small gift can cost $20–$50. For families choosing between food, rent, medication, or utilities, that amount becomes a crisis-level expense. For many parents, what should be a happy occasion turns into a painful reminder of what they wish they could provide.

KOOTASCA believes that every person deserves the joy of feeling special. If you have a child, adult, or senior citizen in your life with a birthday coming up, we can help by providing a birthday cake kit that contains cake ingredients, a pan for baking, candles, and decorations. Contact KOOTASCA’s Community Engagement services at 218-910-5486.

And Happy Birthday! Feeling special shouldn’t depend on income.
