During the early morning hours, Marne firefighters were dispatched to a structure fire within our response area. Our first arriving officer found heavy fire conditions on the C side of the structure (rear of the home) and was able to quickly confirm all occupants made it safely out of the home.
Engine 2 from the City of Walker arrived on scene within minutes of our first officer and quickly went to work knocking down a bulk of the fire. Additional units arrived and quickly setup water supply utilizing tanker trucks as the area was not covered by hydrants. Units remained on scene for several hours chasing hot spots and ensuring the fire was completely out.
We would like to take this opportunity to remind everyone of a very simple fire safety tip. This structure was heavily damaged by fire, but the bedrooms remained mostly intact. This was mainly due to the bedroom doors being closed. As you can see the hallway and adjacent rooms are heavily damaged by fire while the art/pictures on the other side remained virtually untouched. Closing your bedroom doors while you sleep could mean the difference between life and death during a structure fire!
We would like to thank the following departments for their assistance this morning. We are beyond blessed to have strong mutual aid partners who not only assisted us on scene, but also back filled our stations while we were tied up!
