Our good friends over at Double Dip Depot stopped by our station today to drop off a few gallons of ice cream to help us beat the August heat! In return we let Dino try on some turn out gear and spray some water!

School starts in just a few short weeks, but there is plenty of time to swing in and get your last minute rounds of Mini-Golf in before the season comes to an end. Of course, you can’t stop at Double Dip without enjoying an ice cream cone or two!

Double Dip Depot, while not directly in our area, have always been huge supporters of us and first responders. Every year they donate ice cream and cones to our fair booth to ensure we are serving only the best items. It also just so happens that the owner is a Firefighter with the City of Walker Fire Department - Michigan and his wife is an Ottawa County Central Dispatcher. Supporting first responders is what they do best!

Get out and enjoy the summer while it lasts! It will unfortunately be over before we know it!

We would like to extend our gratitude to our citizens who overwhelmingly voted to renew our public safety millage in both Wright and Tallmadge Townships!

As we mentioned previously our yearly operating budget is based 100% on the funds generated from these millages. That means the renewal process is extremely important to allow us to continue to operate efficiently and provide the top tier service we provide today!

Once again we thank everyone for their support and if you ever see us out or around our stations please feel free to stop in and see the pride and commitment our members share. Your tax dollars are being well spent, well maintained and we love showing it off to our citizens who make it happen!

Primary Elections will take place next week on Tuesday, August 4th. There will be a proposal for a millage renewal for public safety. This proposal will be on both the Wright Township and Tallmadge Township ballets.

These proposals are simply renewals they are NOT increases. If you choose to Vote YES, (which we hope you do) it would renew the millage for another four years and allow us to continue operating as normal.

These millage renewals are extremely important for the Wright-Tallmadge Fire Department as we operate on nearly 100% of the funds they generate. Without these renewals we could not continue to support our citizens to the level we do today.

As of today, we are at 681 calls for the year. We are on pace to achieve 1,200 calls by the end of 2026. Keep in mind 90% of these calls are answered by Paid-on-Call members who do this as a secondary career.

We have always had amazing support from the citizens we protect and we hope to receive the same amount of support again this year on August 4th!

Thank you to all of our citizens who continue to support us year after year!

Today we received a few updates on the build progress for our new Pumper Tankers being built by Toyne Fire Apparatus. These new trucks will replace our current Pumper Tankers 1861 and 1862.

Progress is moving along rapidly at this point and we are very pleased with how they look so far! Delivery dates are tentatively scheduled for Fall of this year.

These new trucks will carry more water and have larger pumps than our current trucks. We cannot wait to get these in house and start training our members and putting them to use!

The results are in from last nights main event! By very narrow margins Chief Kroll and his team of Coopersville/Polkton Fire Rescue firefighters took home the victory. They slightly overcame the City of Walker Fire Department - Michigan who took home the second place spot with Conklin Firefighters Association securing the third place spot. 🏆 🏁

Allendale Fire Department and Marne unfortunately had early defeats and received DNF’s due to some excessive bump drafting and what is being called “to much friendly rivalry”

Despite an early knock out we are proud of our teams efforts and we will be back next year stronger than ever and ready to win! 🥇

This weekend Captain Fish will be competing in the annual Fire Truck 500 at Berlin Raceway. He is getting in a few practice laps in preparation to take on Cleetus McFarland at the Michigan 100 Crown Vic event on August 15th! We think he has a real shot, as he spent many hours behind the wheel of a Crown Vic in his early days as an Ottawa County Sheriff!

We have been hearing rumors that Coopersville/Polkton Fire Rescue and Allendale Fire Department have already dropped out of this weekends race. They know they just can’t compete with the speed and agility of our Marne Machines! 🏁🚒💨

Last week’s bi-monthly training topic consisted of water supply and hose line control. Due to the extreme heat of the week, our families were invited along to help us hone our skills. We may have even trained some future Wright-Tallmadge firefighters in the process.

We turned this night into a family night with dinner provided by our association. This was our way to thank our families for continuing to support us especially coming off a very busy fair week! We absolutely could not do it without them and providing dinner is the least we could do.

Our turn out was fantastic and it was great to see so many of our families coming together to enjoy an evening of fun even though some may have taken it a bit to far with the deck gun on 1862 😆

Do you smell that?! It smells like Maple Syrup, Canadian Bacon and Justin Trudeau! The Canadians have sent us a smoke screen to help hide the sun and the heat! 🇨🇦 💨 🍁

In all seriousness, the wildfire smoke is very heavy in our area this morning and the smell of smoke is strong. Air quality is expected to remain poor for most of the day.

Please use caution when determining if you need to call Ottawa County Central Dispatch Authority today for a smell of smoke. We do not want to discourage anyone from calling if they feel they have an actual emergency, but also the whole town of Marne smells like smoke today. As always your friendly neighborhood firefighters are here to assist if you call upon us!
