The 2026 Safe Routes to School Report Card ranks Minnesota #4 in the nation for Safe Routes to School programming—and Minnesota is the ONLY state in the Midwest to earn a spot in the Top category! 👏

Minnesota joins California, Washington and Oregon among the nation’s top-performing states.

⭐ 171 out of 200 points for state support of walking, biking, rolling and active communities through policy and implementation.

This recognition celebrates the incredible work happening across Minnesota to help kids walk, bike and roll safely, while building healthier, more active communities.

A huge shout-out to all the schools, communities, families, organizations and leaders working to make active transportation a priority for Minnesota kids! ❤️

🎒 Back to School Reminders for Grand Rapids Area Schools! 🚌Welcome back, students and families!

Here is the schedule for the first week of school:

🗓️ Tuesday, September 1: First Day of School
Grades K–9: Cohasset, East, West, RJEMS, and GRHS
Grades K–12: Bigfork School
New Students: Any new 10th–12th graders
**West & Cohasset Kindergarten students will attend one full day (T or W) the first week of school. Teacher placements will occur that week. On Thursday, all K students are welcome to attend an Open House from 12pm-1:30pm. Look for a notification from your child's school for more information.

🗓️ Wednesday, September 2: GRHS First Day
Grades 10–12: Grand Rapids High School first day for returning upperclassmen.
