💙 🐾 IN MEMORIAM - K9 PACO 🐾 💙

It is with heavy hearts that the Grand Saline Police Department mourns the passing of former Grand Saline Police K9 Paco.

Paco faithfully served the Grand Saline community alongside his handlers, protecting others, assisting in the work of law enforcement, and forming a bond that went far beyond the badge. He was not simply a K9 officer, he was a partner, a protector, and a beloved member of the Grand Saline Police Department family.

Although Paco's time in active service eventually came to an end, the impact he made during his career will never be forgotten. The dedication, loyalty, and courage he displayed throughout his service are a lasting part of his legacy.

Today, we remember Paco not only for the work he did, but for the lives he touched and the memories he leaves behind.

Rest easy, Paco.
Your watch is over.
Your service was honorable.
Your loyalty was unwavering.
And your paw prints will forever remain on the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing you.

The Grand Saline Police Department extends our heartfelt condolences to the Smith County Sheriff’s Office and the family of Deputy Gerald Atchison. Our thoughts and prayers are with his loved ones, his coworkers, and the entire Smith County law enforcement family during this difficult time. May he rest in peace.

More tragic news for Texas law enforcement.

The Mabank Fire Chief, who also served as a Police Officer, was tragically struck and killed last night while directing traffic at a community rodeo.

TMPA joins the Mabank community, his family, loved ones, fellow officers, firefighters, and all who served beside him in mourning this heartbreaking loss.

Please keep his family and the entire Mabank public safety family in your prayers during this incredibly difficult time.

Rest easy, sir. Your service and sacrifice will not be forgotten. 💙

FRUITVALE MAN SENTENCED TO 15 YEARS FOR SEXUAL ASSAULT

Grand Saline Police Department announced the successful conclusion of a sexual assault investigation and prosecution involving Wesley Jay Baugh.

In April 2023, the Grand Saline Police Department initiated an investigation into allegations of sexual assault involving Baugh. During the course of the investigation, officers developed probable cause, and Baugh was subsequently charged with Sexual Assault.

On May 6, 2026, following a jury trial, Baugh was found guilty of Sexual Assault. On May 7, 2026, he was sentenced to 15 years in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice.

The Grand Saline Police Department would like to recognize the dedication and professionalism of the investigating officers, prosecutors, and all personnel involved in bringing this case to a successful conclusion. Their commitment, diligence, and tireless efforts throughout the lengthy investigation and prosecution were instrumental in ensuring justice was served.
