Questions have been asked as to when the fruit/candy delivery started in Grandfalls-Royalty in Grandfalls, Texas

This is what has been determined by several of those that have been in the area for many years.

Mr. Doug Witcher lived in Grandfalls from 1947-1980, until the time of his death.

He was instrumental in starting the Grandfalls Volunteer Fire Department in 1947 or 1948.
Although there is no documentation to confirm the exact date, the best conclusion is that the Christmas Eve Deliveries started during the time the department was founded.

Therefore, Thanks to Mr Douglas Witcher and the many members that enjoy and continue this wonderful tradition.

Please turn off your hot water heaters until water is restored. Easier to relight or flip a breaker than to replace your hot water heater. Also, for safety sake, probably need to boil water for a day or two once water is restored.

Hello everyone here is the route for the Christmas parade tomorrow, line up will be at 6:30pm. Going to try to start the parade at 7pm. It’ll be in the 50’s so please dress warm and we hope everyone has a wonderful safe time! When we end on Ave C by the school and fire department area we do ask to give up room to get fire trucks backed in and please do not park in front of our bay doors. If we have an emergency we will not have the time to find the owner of the vehicle. We thank you all!

There will be a gentleman setting up a tent to rest for the night in front of the fire department, that way he is a little bit safer spot to rest for the night. We wanted to let the public know that the fire department members have been made aware he will be there for the night! Thank you all!
