On Saturday our Grandview team had the opportunity to learn and grow alongside elected officials from across the Yakima Valley at AWC’s Elected Officials Essentials Workshop in Union Gap.

It was especially meaningful to attend with both our newly elected Councilmember Ramona Garibay-Rios and our veteran Councilmember Joan Sounders. Their shared commitment to continuous learning is a powerful reminder that in public service, the work—and the growth—never stops. I’m so proud to see our council invest in the tools and knowledge that help us serve Grandview with clarity, confidence, and collaboration.

We also had a wonderful time connecting with our neighbors from Sunnyside, Prosser, Granger, and Mabton. Strengthening regional relationships is essential for all our cities, and I’m grateful for every chance we get to learn together, share space together, and build a stronger Yakima Valley as one community.

Thank you to AWC for creating a welcoming, energizing environment for both new and returning officials. Grandview showed up ready—and we’re taking everything we learned straight back to the people we serve. 💛
