𝗚𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗱𝘃𝗶𝗲𝘄 𝗣𝗼𝗹𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝗪𝗲𝗲𝗸𝗹𝘆 𝗥𝗲𝗰𝗮𝗽 (𝗢𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗯𝗲𝗿 𝟭𝟮 – 𝗢𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗯𝗲𝗿 𝟭𝟴, 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲)
This week, Grandview Police Department officers responded to 103 calls for service. Here are a few highlights from the week.

𝐅𝐫𝐚𝐮𝐝 𝐈𝐧𝐯𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐠𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧
On October 12, officers contacted a resident who reported being the victim of multiple scams. The victim initially received a phone call claiming she had won an iPhone but needed to pay a fee before receiving her prize. After sending money overseas through Western Union, she received additional calls claiming she was entitled to $100,000 from a class-action lawsuit but needed to pay attorney fees to collect the money. The victim made several payments before contacting police. Officers determined the calls were fraudulent and advised the victim to block the suspicious phone numbers. Reminder: Legitimate prizes and settlements should not require you to send money to unknown individuals to collect your winnings. Never send money to someone you do not know based solely on an unsolicited phone call.
𝐃𝐔𝐈 𝐀𝐫𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐭
On October 16, officers contacted a male who was found passed out behind the steering wheel of a vehicle blocking an alleyway in the 300 block between Avenue E and Avenue F. Officers observed open alcohol containers inside the vehicle and noticed signs of impairment while speaking with the driver. The driver agreed to perform voluntary field sobriety tests and displayed several indicators of impairment. The driver was arrested for DUI and transported to the Grandview Police Department for breath testing. His breath alcohol results were nearly twice the legal limit of 0.08.
The driver was cited and released for DUI.
𝐃𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐜 𝐕𝐢𝐨𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐀𝐫𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐭 – 𝐅𝐢𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐦𝐬 𝐑𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐝
On October 17, officers responded to a reported physical domestic disturbance in the 300 block of Avenue E. Upon arrival, officers contacted several family members outside the residence who reported that a male had assaulted a female and threatened family members with a fi***rm. Officers learned the female victim had allegedly been assaulted multiple times, including being strangled and threatened with death. A six-year-old child was also reportedly assaulted during the incident. Due to reports of a fi***rm being involved, officers secured the area while ensuring the victims were safely removed from the scene. Officers established communication with the suspect, who ultimately exited the residence and was taken into custody without incident. During the investigation, officers obtained a search warrant for the residence and recovered two fi***rms, including a sh***un and a handgun, along with am******on. The suspect was booked into Sunnyside Jail on requested charges of:
• Felony Harassment – Domestic Violence
• Assault 2nd Degree – Domestic Violence
• Assault 4th Degree – Domestic Violence
The investigation remains subject to review by the prosecutor’s office.
