This group (Emergency Support Services) are invaluable to the first responders of Johnson County. They are responsible for rehabbing and protecting firefighters and first responders from themselves. They hydrate, feed and do health screening ensuring safety and the ability to work without fatigue. They are there in the heat of the summer and the cold of the winter. We use them on structure fires, wildland fires, and Motor vehicle accidents. Law enforcement uses them for complex scenes, and extended scene times. And that just scratches the surface! They also support departments at fund raisers and educate communities in CPR and first aid. If you have the means please consider donating to their need and help them support the first responders.

Building Fund Emergency Support Service is a 501(c)3 staffed by volunteers and is also graciously supported by the Johnson County ESD #1. The ESD is funding the purchase of a new specially built response truck to support our mission of supporting our emergency service workers throughout Johnson Coun...

10/25/25 at approximately 2:00 a.m. Grandview Fire Department responded to a vehicle crash on 35 just south of the 17mm. First on units reported a 18- wheeler rolled over in the center median with debris scattered over the north and south bound lanes. The driver reported he was not injured. While in the process of containing diesel spilling from the over turned truck and clearing debris from the roadway a Fire apparatus parked on the south bound side of the incident was struck from behind by a motor vehicle traveling southbound. Thankfully the apparatus was unoccupied and all firefighters were able to get to the other side of the guardrail prior to impact. No injuries to any firefighters were reported. The driver of the second vehicle was transported with non-life threatening injuries to the hospital by Careflite ambulance. We are extremely grateful for everyone returning to the station safely and the truck did its job protecting firefighters from injury. Please remember there are precious lives working around those lights on an accident scene and wherever they appear or whatever you think is going on “slow down and move over”.

Today we pray for the Godley fire Department members and the family and friends of this man and his wife. RIP Brother! We will take it from here.

Today our Department mourns the loss of Firefighter/Engineer, our brother, Steve Storie. We mourn in sadness with his family but we know Steve's heart and his wife and we know exactly where they abide today! Steve did so much for this department and always thought of others before himself. Steve loved volunteering his time and he was much loved by all of us here at Godley Fire Department. We will miss you Steve. Please keep his family and friends in your prayers We will take it from here our brother Steve

The boss lady! Been telling us where to go for a long long time. Thank you for your service!

To end National Telecommunications week, we have Kristi! Kristi is our supervisor and has been at the ESD since we first became operational 14 years ago! She went from working the console to now running dispatch! While she's not at work, she enjoys traveling and spending time with friends and family!

"Every day is a different. I enjoy knowing that I can assist in providing needed assistance to the citizens of Johnson County and those that travel through the county. I am also thankful for the ability to work with some of the finest dispatchers."

Thank you for your service Kristi!

And a huge HAPPY TELECOMMUNICATIONS WEEK to everyone here at the ESD, the agencies we work closely with, and to everyone near and far. While being appreciated and showered with love is absolutely wonderful and helps us to keep going, we don't do this job for the recognition. We do this job because we have a purpose and desire to help people on their worst days. When we answer the phone, we don't know what is going to be happening on the other side. We could be sending help to someone who has fallen. We could be helping someone through CPR instructions. We could be helping someone whose house or pasture is on fire. As the first point of contact, we are able to provide critical instructions to assist you until other first responders arrive and take over.

The OG! TYFYS Donna!!

Let me introduce you to Donna! Donna has been with us for 13 years. When she's not at work, she lives for her family. She finds herself wanting to make sure that her family and loved ones are safe and happy. She loves making sourdough bread, fermenting foods, making foods from scratch, and preserving foods. She absolutely loves her chickens! "Ever heard of chicken math? It's a real thing" She also loves her cats and her dogs. Someday she wants to add goats into the mix, but she has a couple of people she needs to convince first! She has a son who is medically fragile who is the light of her world. She's said that everyday he teaches her what the true meaning of life is!

"Here at the ESD, there have been many changes over the years, but the one constant that I believe is the heartbeat of this county is the volunteer firefighters. These gals and guys have captured my heart the first day I started working here and still have it. There is no one like them in the world as far as I'm concerned. I have laughed and wept with them. The care that they bring to this community is so immense. Don't get me wrong, I love paid firefighters also, and I believe that we have some of the most dedicated and caring firefighters around. But you ask me what my favorite thing about working here is? It's the volunteers."

Thank you for your service Donna!

One of the good guys. TYFYS Steve!

Here we have Steve! Steve has been with us for 5 years! Not only is he a dispatcher, he's also the Commander for our Honor Guard! While he's not on shift here, you can find him working his other jobs or at Briaroaks Fire Department where he volunteers!

"I enjoy the people I work with and the fact of being a part of a team that is very much a crucial part of the best job in the world, which is the fire service"

Thank you for your service Steve!
