Andy Richter for City Council

Andy Richter for City Council Andy Richter's campaign for Grandville City Council. Paid for by Andy Richter for City Council, 4025

I am running for City Council because I believe in Grandville. I was born and raised in Grandville and now I'm blessed to raise my family and work in the same great city I know and love. I have a passion to serve the citizens of this community and the temperament to usher Grandville into the bright future by the example of its great past. I am ready to serve the citizens of Grandville with my balance and sensible approach to government.

I have enjoyed very much my time and service at the Council level in the City of Grandville! This will be an experience that I will remember and look fondly of in the future. I have learned so much being on the council and very proud of the work that has been done and the people, businesses and groups that I have been able to meet along the way. This City is truly one of a kind and I have been richly blessed by it.

My wife and I have an opportunity that was placed in front of us and we are going to pursue that but it will mean that we will be living outside of Grandville City limits. We will still be very much a part of the community as I will be running and operating my real estate business in City of Grandville. So we hope to continue to contribute to the City in other ways!

Thanks to all who have been a part of this with me!

We had the 2016/2017 City Budget (Grandville) vote tonight. As always I appreciate all that is done during this process. I am a strong believer in budgeting for a balanced budget and put a plan out that did just that. However the proposed budget was unbalanced and I voted against that measure. The budget still passed but I am proud to have stood my ground, like many other fiscal conservatives before me!

Tonight was a first... I did not approve the agenda as it did not have an invocation. So during my council comments I ended with prayer inviting those who wanted to join with me... This must make me not very politically correct.

May all have a blessed New Year!

We will never forget! The price was high and those who answered the call will be always remembered and honored! America is truly the land of the FREE because of those who fought to keep it that way!

I have been a part of the Grandville 4th of July parade for as long as I can remember especially as it was at one time going past my front lawn. I appreciate all aspects of the parade and know that everyone loves it for different reasons. I believe that it's a great kickoff to the 4th of July day which ends with our highly anticipated firework show! Safety is obviously our biggest concern but we also want to ensure the freedom of those who are all involved in the parade, I believe in personal responsibility.

A number of us on the council have urged some kind of middle ground be found. A fellow council member made a motion and I supported that motion that essentially wanted to ensure that idea took place and that the Parks and Rec Board re-evaluate and re-vote on everything. Essentially not wanting to go from 100 to 0 within a year.

A number of safety measures had been talked about with ideas ranging from crowd control volunteers (as we know Grandville residents are more than excited to get involved and I think we could get a couple of hundred very easily), I suggested a Red chalk line be put down before the parade (similar to that on the football field) that would give the crowd a boundary line and would also be easily washed away after the parade. I also suggested a police cruiser with a loud speaker instructing the crowd on proper conducted and also a personal call to each participant in the parade to ensure that the crowd give-out rules be followed.

I appreciate all the work that the Parks and Rec Board has done on this issue and I am looking forward to the plan that they come up with in the following weeks.
