Wondering what the Ombudsman Program is here for and what the Ombudsman can do for you?
The Ombudsman is our link in the Chain of Command between Families and The Command.
Ombudsman are used as a referral resource.
They are here to help connect Sailors and their families with whatever resources they may need throughout lifes many ups and downs.
Additionally, do you have an issue that needs brought to the commands attention? Chatting with the Ombudsman is always confidential (with a few exceptions: abuse, assault, su***de and homicide). The Ombudsman can help make The Command aware of issues too.
Maybe your spouse didn't get pay for a drill weekend that they were there for and should have been paid for? The Command will want to know so it can be rectified.
Maybe you are unhappy with the resources that were in attendance for a family day. The Command wants to hear your feedback.
Maybe your Sailor doesn't feel like they can go to anyone in his or her Chain of Command for safe guidance, but they need help with something only the Navy can provide? The Command will want to know so they can provide your Sailor (or you) with options.
If you fill your Ombudsman in on issues, the Ombudsman then brings attention to the issues you want your Command to know about. And vice versa.
If somethings happens that the command needs to make families aware of, the Ombudsman may be asked to help provide information or support to Sailors and their families.
