Primary election season is upon us and that means it’s a battle within the party for the name to be on the ballot in November. At a time when it seems almost anyone will say anything about anybody to get a reaction, a retweet or cast doubt on an opponent to gain some support, it’s important to dig past the surface to see who people really are.

Andy Rutten for St Joseph County Council is on the ballot. I know Andy. I support Andy. He doesn’t get involved in the mud slinging and defaming his opponents. He is too interested in learning what you think and meticulously honing his approach to canvassing in District I and hearing what members of the community think. This is evidenced by his unending energy and discipline to the process. He spends, at a minimum, 2-3 hours each day, at least 6 days each week, rain or shine, knocking on doors to meet voters and hear their thoughts. Of course he wants safe and vibrant communities…that should be a given for any worthy candidate seeking public office. He’s spent time in the military and as a first responder. He’s actually provided for your safety and freedom. Andy is a true conservative and has always stood for individual freedoms and spent time in the trenches fighting for yours, right here in St. Joseph County. Not every Republican on any ballot can make these claims.

This is what you want in a public servant and in a Republican candidate. Join me in support of Andy Rutten and cast a vote for him as your County Council Representative of District I in the upcoming primary election.

Too bad this didn’t work out. It would have provided a solution that made it easier and maximizes the attractiveness for everyone to conduct business in St. Joseph county. Thanks for bringing it forward and giving at least giving our Republican majority a chance to give it a “yes”. Thank you to the other 3 that councilmen who stood by you.

Great minds think alike! Attorney General Todd Rokita and I agree. Andy Rutten for St Joseph County Council has a history of fiscal conservatism and standing to preserve individual freedoms and government overreach. As a public servant he will continue doing the same.

It is election season again. Local offices are the most meaningful vote you can cast as the decisions made here are most impactful to your daily life. In the last two years the St. Joseph County Council, with a Republican majority, has created unity on the council and brought fiscal conservatism and common sense back into the decision making process for every citizen of St. Joseph County.
